2019 Storylines to follow

Maryland High School Draft
The early look at the Old Line State potential draft products is a short one at the moment, as Calvert Hall SS Jose Torres (NC State) looks like he could potentially be the first player taken with Northern's OF Marcus Lee Sang (St. John's) as a possible second. There are bound to be more Maryland talent jump onto the scene and garner draft possibilities as the season progresses. Last year, Jacob Zebron jumped onto the scene at the Mid-Atlantic Procase, and eventually played a part in his being drafted in the 18th round in 2018.

Will Anyone Repeat?
Of all the MPSSAA champions last year, who has the best chance to repeat? Our vote probably goes to Boonsboro to repeat in the 1A with a large portion of the team returning to the roster plus an easier route to get back to the finals, though the 1A west is by far the hardest route to Aberdeen. Though the route is tougher, we cannot count out Howard, who also look poised to make another run this year in 4A.

Can any Maryland school take the WCAC?
St. John's College (DC) has won an astounding five championships in a row in the highly competitive conference containing private school teams from Maryland, DC, and Virginia. Of the Maryland schools (Bishop McNamara, DeMatha, Good Counsel, St. Mary's Ryken), DeMatha looks like the most ready team to take the crown after taking St. John's to extra innings last year.

Though just a few story's that we are excited to follow this upcoming season, there are sure to be many more as the year evolves as 2019 looks to be a very exciting one.
