GAMES OF THE WEEK

Eddie Hope Let's Play Two Tournament, Saturday April 9-Wednesday April 13
As different counties continue to cycle through spring breaks, Prince William in Northern Virginia has theirs this week and many of those schools will take part in the the Let's Play Two Tournament which will be played at Colgan and Hylton this year. Pool play will be Saturday, Monday, and Tuesday with a Championship round scheduled for Wednesday. Teams slated to participate in this year's tournament are Osbourn Park, Battlefield, Hylton, Potomac, Colgan, Washington & Liberty, Osbourn, and Woodbridge. Keep an eye out for a potential matchup on Wednesday of #1 Colgan and #17 Battlefield for the championship.

#20 Patriot vs. #9 Greenbrier Christian, Monday, April 11 (Mingo Bay Classic, SC)
A top big Northern Virginia public school takes on a top Beach private school in a fun matchup occurring on their respective spring break trips. This game will also feature some great 2022 bats in Patriot seniors AJ Shepard (Indiana), Mason Balsis (Longwood), Max Ehrhardt (Salisbury), and Kyle Vandenburg as well as Austin Younce (VCU) and Gavin Whitehurst (Lincoln Memorial) for Greenbrier. There is plenty of arm talent available for both teams as well depending on how they deploy their rotations during the week. Keep an eye on Greenbrier junior Dominic Angrisani, who is off to a hot start at the plate and on the mound, and sophomore Bubba Sawyer (Virginia) could make a big impact as well.

#21 Independence at #13 Benedictine and #2 Hanover, Tuesday, April 12
2021 VHSL Class 3 State Champ Independence, which is now a Class 5 school, will travel from Loudoun down to Richmond to take on powerhouses Hanover and Benedictine in a doubleheader that will be played at Hanover Tuesday evening. Again, this is another public versus private and intersectional matchup early in the season which has a chance to be a lot of fun. Independence will like line up lefties Bradley Gagen (Tennessee) and Chad Yates for the games and has a deep lineup that has seen junior David Mendez (Dayton) emerge this spring as a dynamic impact player. Hanover will be coming off of NHSI at the USA Baseball complex in Cary, where senior Seth Keller (Old Dominion) set the event strikeout record with 16 in 7 innings on Thursday night. Look for him or Levi Huesman (Coastal Carolina) to be options on the mound for Hanover. For Benedictine, the defending VISAA Division I State Champs, Corey Adams (William & Mary) has had a hot bat this spring and they have plenty of talent and depth in a roster that is poised to defend its title.
