Welcome to Looking Ahead. In this weekly story, we will highlight the top games on the schedule each night.

GAMES OF THE WEEK

#20 Patriot at #10 Battlefield, Tuesday, April 19
Cedar Run District play resumes as these two rivals meet off of strong spring breaks. Battlefield won the Let's Play Two Classic and handed #2 Colgan its first loss of the season. The Pioneers finished as the runners-up at the Mingo Bay Classic and knocked off #15 Greenbrier Christian in the process. Both teams should have their top arms lined up with Carson Estridge (West Virginia) the likely starter for Battlefield and Patriot likely to go with Jakob Foster (Mount St. Mary's). Both teams' bats have also been hot with Cooper Harris, Kehler Hamilton, and JP Williams (George Mason) being strong last week for the Bobcats and seniors Max Ehrhardt (Salisbury), Kyle VanDenburg, and Ryan Fyvie (Patrick Henry CC) for the Pioneers during their break.

Hickory at #11 Nansemond River, Tuesday, April 19
Rivalry season continues as top Southeastern District foes meet in Chesapeake. Both teams should have their top arms lined up for this game, look for Hickory to start either Cooper Newell (James Madison) or Bobby Loper against a Nansemond River lineup that features a ton of offensive firepower and is highlighted by Clay Grady (Virginia Tech), Jordan Crosland (Maryland), and Grayson Fitzwater (VMI).

Flint Hill and #15 Greenbrier Christian at #5 Highland, Saturday, April 23
A trio of games will be hosted by Highland on Saturday in Warrenton as each team will play twice in a round-robin format. Highland is on fire and is up to 18-1 on the season. Their matchup with Greenbrier will be a rematch of the 2021 VISAA Division II State Championship game, which Greenbrier won. This game is also a preview of teams we are likely to see at Shepherd Stadium on Championship weekend. Flint Hill is also off to a strong start and opens the week at 12-2 overall. The Huskies will look to make a statement and move into the rankings during a stretch that starts with this doubleheader and also feature Maret and a rematch with Highland the following week.
