Every Monday during the season, we will highlight the top matchups each night as well as give a short preview of a few games of the week.

Games of the Week

No. 5 Gonzaga at No. 9 Bishop O'Connell, April 26
The Eagles have a stacked roster that features Nick Morabito (Virginia Tech), Bryson Moore (Virginia), and Marcus LeClair (Virginia). Topping the rotation and likely starting this game is senior Luke Jackman (Virginia Tech). O'Connell also has a talented roster and features a lineup built around Jack O'Connor (Virginia). Look for either Jake Feffer (South Florida) or O'Connor to throw in each teams' WCAC opener.

No. 2 Miller School at No. 1 St. Christopher's, April 28
The top two private schools in VA/DC face off on Wednesday in Richmond. Miller has a stable of talent on the mound and in the batting order, which is built around Lucas Adam (Dayton), Landon Abrahamson (Dayton), Henry Cooke (Virginia Tech), Nathan Fink (Virginia), and Noah Murray (Duke). The Saints are unbeaten in 2021 and have a solid roster top to bottom, with senior lefty Harrison Coble (Pittsburgh) and junior righty Camden Nuckols (VCU) topping the rotation and Nuckols hitting in the middle of a lineup that also features senior Griffin O'Ferrall (Virginia).

McLean at No. 1 James Madison, April 29
For years this had game had been a Liberty District rivalry showdown, but Madison moved to the Concord District in recent years, meaning this game has less impact, but it still shapes up to be a good matchup this spring. The Highlanders are a younger team this spring, but look for the offense to be competitive top to bottom, with junior Griffin Stieg (Virginia Tech) as the centerpiece. If the Highlanders get a lead, watch for Stieg to pitch, where he has shown elite stuff this spring. This might be the most talented Madison team in a decade, featuring a lineup that is built around James Triantos (North Carolina), Colin Tuft (Virginia), Miguel Echazarreta (High Point), and Bryce Eldridge (Alabama). Look for either Triantos or Ramsey Collins (UConn) to start for the Warhawks.
