Games of the Week
#3 Freedom (South Riding) at Battlefield, Tuesday, March 22
New Class 6 and Cedar Run District member Freedom will open District play against the defending Cedar Run District champs and long-time powerhouse Battlefield. Expect a showdown of talented arms in this game as Battlefield will likely go with senior Carson Estridge (West Virginia) for the start with Jack Robinson (Roanoke) out of the pen. Freedom should have all of its arms available on a staff that tossed a pair of shutouts in the first week, with Opening Day starter Ryan Morrison (CNU) and juniors Ryan Marohn (NC State), Mason Butash (Penn State), and Luke Proehl (Virginia Tech) all available after outstanding debuts last week.
#11 Cape Henry Collegiate at #9 Greenbrier Christian, Tuesday, March 22
A ton of talent will be on the field as the top southeastern Virginia private schools face off on Tuesday. For Cape Henry, outfielders Kenny Schaedel (Georgia Tech) and Harper Cox (Virginia) headline a deep offense. For Greenbrier, seniors Austin Younce (VCU) and Gavin Whitehurst (Lincoln Memorial) are the centerpieces of the offense and Brandon Dahlman, Bailey Matela (Old Dominion), and Nico Angrisani top the rotation.
Western Branch vs. #15 James Madison vs. #18 Miller School, Saturday, March 26
Two of the top Class 6 public school powers, one from Chesapeake and one from Northern Virginia, will travel to the Charlottesville area to play a set against one of the top private school programs in the Commonwealth, Miller School. Each team will play two games throughout the day and there will be a ton of top-end talent on the field on each team.
