Welcome to Looking Ahead, our look at key matchups that will occur in the coming week from around the Commonwealth. Without further ado, here are games that we find to be especially interesting in the coming week:

LOOKING AHEAD: MAY 7-12

WCAC Semifinals and Championship
The WCAC had its quarterfinal round over the weekend with St. Mary's Ryken taking on No. 10 St. John's and DeMatha playing No. 6 Paul VI Catholic in the semifinals. Each pairing will play a best of three series Monday through Wednesday, with the winners advancing to the Championship series which begins Thursday. St. John's has won the championship three years in a row, but has split two very competitive games this spring against a Paul VI team that is stacked on the mound. If the two meet in the championship, it should be very even and outstanding series.

No. 15 Woodgrove vs. No. 7 Riverside, Tuesday May 8
These two have already met once with Woodgrove winning a walk-off in extra innings. This game has massive playoff implications as the Dulles District only sends two teams to the Region 4C tournament, and those are the top two teams in the standings at the end of the regular season. Both teams enter the game with only one District loss, and the winner will essentially have clinched its Region bid.
