The Lord Botetourt Cavaliers met a hot hitting Northside Vikings today, however, it was the Cav's who stole the headlines, producing ten runs early in the battle.

The Cav's scored in the second when Cav's Catcher, Logan Wood singled to right field and advanced to second base on a passed ball. Meade Mayo launched his first of the three hits of the day, scoring Wood. It was Bryce Kelley's two out, single that brought Mayo and Arnholt across the plate.

In the home third, the Cav's exploded. Drew Bond reached on an error to start the frame, and Jake Dewease, Mayo, and Arnholt singled back to back to back. Cav's lead-off hitter, Hunter Duke, was hit by a pitch and Bryce Kelley drove in three runners. In the third, the Cav's poured eight runs on the scoreboard, and the Vikings ship was sinking.

Lefty Starter Patrick Keplar, showed no scars from a rough encounter with Staunton River last week, blanking the Vikings through four scoreless innings. Keplar featured an 84mph fastball and a hard breaking ball (77mph) to keep Northside at bay.

In the top of the fifth, the Vikings rallied, chasing Keplar off the mound with consecitive walks to Timmy Sloane and Mason McNeese. Righty Dillion Fralin took over on the mound, and quickly struck out Evan Parks and Austin Atkins. With two outs in the inning, Brandon Golden reached on an infield error and loaded the bases. Sam McLaughlin's single to right field scored both Sloane and McNesse, and the Vikings were on the board.

The Cav's tacked on an insurance run in the sixth, when Logan Wood drove in Drew Bond who walked earlier in the frame.

The Vikings were down to their last three outs in the seventh, and substitute, Kyle Deisher started the inning with a single to right field. Farrell collected a gap seeking double scoring Deisher and the Vikings were staging a comeback. Brooks and Gavin Linden followed with singles, and Sloane reached on an error. McNesse doubled in three runs, however, it was too late.

Final score 13-8 for the Cav's, in a thriller. Lord Botetourt's seven, eight, and nine hitters produced six hits, with five RBI's, three from Mayo, who left the game after an errant throw injured his eye.

Lord Botetourt is 9-3 on the season.
