This week we take a look back at our Junior Future Games Trials at the Harford Sports Complex with the release of our analysis of the 23 players that participated. Today we continue with complete analysis of the infielder's and outfielder's from the event. 

 

JUNIOR FUTURE GAMES TRIALS MIDDLE INFIELDERS

Joshua Galvin SS/RHP DeMatha 2023
Strong, athletic body type and 5’8’’, 155 pound frame. Strength and power both present at the plate. Hits from a balanced, square stance, with a wide base. Creates nice hand separation in load with a small stride. Uses lower half well and showed quick hands and bat speed recording a 77 mph exit velocity. Excellent balance throughout and does a nice job staying behind the ball. Moves well and plays low to the ground with active feet. Smooth fielding actions, soft hand, and quick exchanges. Taps glove for rhythm into throw. Throws with shorter arm action from a low three-quarters slot at 75 mph. Ran a 4.65 home-to-first time. 

Aidan Niemerski 2B/SS Montgomery Blair 2023
Athletic body type and 5’8’’, 130 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance. Smooth, rhythmic hand load and creates nice separation with a small stride. Short level swing path with some bat speed. Line drive type hitter with good bat control and can use the whole field. Get some lower half rotation but room for plenty more. Recorded a 72 mph exit velocity and ran a 5.19 home-to-first time. Plays with active feet and moves well in the infield. Surrounds the ball and showed smooth actions. Fields the ball out in front funneling it to the belt. Clean exchanges and throws with short arm action from a variety of slots at 64 mph.

Will Rhine SS/2B TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’1’’, 90 pound frame. Hits from the left side in a balanced, slightly open stance. Loads hands back in load with an average stride length. Short, level, line drive swing path. Stays behind the ball well with head down on contact and gets good extension in finish. Plays with active feet in the infield and surrounds the ball working through it. Throws with shorter arm action from a three-quarters slot at 63 mph. Ran a 5.19 home-to-first time.

Noah Talley SS/OF TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’0’’, 80 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance at the plate. Showed rhythm in hand load and used a toe-tap for timing. Slightly longer, uphill swing path. Gets uphill through finish with some lower half involvement. Showed good balance throughout the swing and a nice line drive approach. Plays with active feet in the infield and fields the ball out in front with soft hands. Works through the ball and throws with slightly longer arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 57 mph. Ran a 5.16 home-to-first time.

Aaron Yurechko SS/OF TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’0’’, 95 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly closed stance at the plate. Takes hands back with a medium sized leg kick load. Creates nice hand separation and showed a short, level swing path. Stays on the ball well through contact with good balance. Incorporates some lower half into swing and recorded a 59 mph exit velocity. Surrounds the ball on approach in the infield and fields the ball out in front, funneling hands to chest. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 59 mph.Ran a 5.56 home-to-first time.

Michael Cureton SS/RHP Morningside 2024
Strong, athletic body type and 5’8’’, 175 pound frame. Switch hitter. Hits from the left side from a balanced, open stance. Creates some hand separation in load with an average stride length that lands closed at foot-strike. Stays behind the ball well with some bat speed and a short, level swing path. Hits from the right side in a tall, well-balanced stance with a wide base. Loads hands back without a stride. Strong lower half and strength and power present from both sides. Recorded and event best 79 mph exit velocity. Plays with active feet and works through the ball in the infield. Fields the ball out in front and funnels to the belt. Long arm action throwing from a high three-quarters slot at 71 mph. Ran a 4.78 home-to-first time.

Bryce Bauer 3B/RHP Havre De Grace 2025
Athletic, compact body type and 5’1’’. 110 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate with hands pre-set in hitting position. Smooth back load and short stride. Takes hands straight to the ball and showed a short, slightly uphill swing. Gets some lower half involvement and stays on the ball with head down at contact. Recorded a 63 mph exit velocity and ran a 5.71 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the infield with soft hands and a quick, clean exchange. Had a tendency to field the ball in close to body at times. Throws with slightly shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 60 mph.

Casey Carpenter 3B/1B C. Milton Wright 2025
Big, solid body type and 5’4’’, 130 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance at the plate. Short stride and long back load with hands. Slightly longer, level swing path with some power present. Cut finish and lower half rotation short at times. Squared several line drives up during BP and recorded a 71 mph exit velocity. Works through the ball in the infield with active feet and throws with long arm action from the side at 62 mph. Ran a 5.95 home-to-first time.

Quinn Dean 3B/SS Reservoir 2024
Strong, athletic body type and 5’7’’, 134 pound frame. Hits from a slightly crouched, well-balanced, square stance at the plate. Small leg kick load and creates nice hand separation. Hits off his front side staying short to the ball with a level swing path. Rotates lower half well and showed some bat speed and pop to the pull-side. Works low to the ground and through balls in the infield with active feet. Throws with long arm action from a low three-quarters slot at 66 mph. Ran a 4.77 home-to-first time.

Jake Mohler RHP/3B TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’4’’, 115 pound frame. Switch hitter. Hits from the left side in a balanced, athletic, square stance with hands pre-set in a good hitting position. Small stride and short, slightly uphill swing path. Stays behind the ball and showed rhythm in the swing. Much of the same from the right side with more bat speed present. Works through the ball in the infield and has a tendency to field it deep,close to the body. Throws with slightly long arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 62 mph. Ran a 5.64 home-to-first time.

Ryan Niedzialkowski 3B/RHP C. Milton Wright 2023
Tall, solid body type and 5’9’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance with hands held high in a pre-loaded position. Small stride and a short, direct, level swing to the ball with some pop. Showed quick hands and some bat speed. Gets some extension and lower half involvement as well. Recorded a 70 mph exit velocity and ran a 5.10 home-to-first time.

Griffin Shirk LHP/1B John Carroll 2023
Athletic body type and projectable 6’1’’, 150 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, square stance at the plate from the left side with hands pre-set in hitting position. Used a toe-tap to load. Attacks the ball with a short, direct, level swing and showed some bat speed. Generates some lower half involvement with nice balance throughout the swing. Gets some extension through contact and finishes swing with one-hand. Recorded a 75 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.53 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the infield at first base and throws with short arm action from a mid three-quarters slot at 68 mph.

Marcus Burrell OF Potomac School (VA) 2023
Athletic body type and 5’3’’, 112 pound frame. Hits from the left side in a balanced, athletic, square stance with front foot slightly pointed back towards the catcher. Quick medium sized leg kick load and takes hands back creating some separation. Short, slightly uphill swing path with quick hands and some quick bat speed. Gets excellent extension throughout swing with a high finish and strong lower half involvement. Stays on and behind the ball very well through contact with excellent balance. Attacks the ball in the outfield with quick footwork and stays low to the ground in crow-hop. Throws with long arm action from a high three quarters arm slot at 61 mph. Recorded a 66 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.81 home-to-first time.

Lonzo Drummond IV OF/LHP TBD 2024
Athletic body type and 5’0’’, 95 pound frame. Switch hitter. Balanced, athletic, slightly open stance from the left side. Average stride and short hand load. Short, level with path and squared several balls up pull side with nice rhythm in the box. Stays behind the ball very well with head down on ball at contact. Almost a carbon copy on the right side with maybe slightly more bat speed. Runs through the ball in the outfield and plays low to the ground with active feet. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarter slot at 61 mph. Ran a 5.03 home-to-first time.

Chase Fleming LHP/OF Appoquninmik 2023
Athletic body type and 5’4’’, 120 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, slightly open stance at the plate. Slight toe tap into a medium sized leg kick load. Direct to the ball with a level swing path. Attacks the ball with intent and showed quick bat speed and a strong uphill finish. Generates strong lower half involvement in swing. Gap-to-gap line drive type hitter now with some pop. Recorded a 74 mph exit velocity and ran a 4.94 home-to-first time. Runs through the ball in the outfield with active feet and a crow-hop load into throw. Throws with long arm action from a low three-quarters slot a 71 mph.

Adam Hicks OF/RHP Gilman 2023
Advanced approach at the plate. Hits form a tall, balanced, athletic stance at the plate. Smooth front leg lift into load for rhythm and timing. Uncoils body and lets the hands fly attacking the baseball with intent. Creates some barrel whip and gets the bat head on plane early with a more uphill swing path. Nice lower half involvement and long finish. Recorded an exit velocity of 73 mph and ran a 4.89 home-to-first time. Controlled approach to the ball in the outfield working through it with quick footwork and clean actions. Throws with long arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 77 mph.

Dominic Hicks OF/RHP TBD 2025
Athletic body type and 5’0’, 85 pound frame. Hits from a balanced, athletic, square stance at the plate with hands pre-loaded in a good hitting position. Uses a to-tap load and showed a short, uphill swing path with a high finish. Utilizes the lower half well in swing. Ran a 4.83 home-to-first time. Works through the ball in the outfield and throws with shorter arm action from a high three-quarters slot at 61 mph.
