MD Unsigned Senior Games Spotlight: Caden Long

PBR Maryland held the 2023 MD Unsigned Senior Games at Joe Cannon Stadium on August 8th. Players were put through a pro-style workout that included BP on the field, defense and a 60-yard dash. Following the workout, players participated in a simulated game that included live AB's. Players also received industry leading data provided by TrackMan, Blast Motion, Vizual Edge and Swift Performance during the event.

Caden Long 3B / RHP / Allegany, MD / 2024A standout performance at this years MD Unsigned Senior Games certainly stapled Long as one of the top uncommitted two-ways in the state. Possessing a long, proportionally strong 6-foot-1, 175 pound frame, the Allegany product impacts on both sides of the ball, and the metrics back it up. The strength is evident offensively, consistently peppering line drives to both gaps with backspin created to the alleys up to 94.8 mph off the bat during BP. A slightly closed setup, the approach is to the middle with line drive tendencies and some torque in the hips, incorporating quick hands through the zone. An agile defender, Long showcases quick feet and above average arm strength that allows versatility at either the corner infield or corner outfield position with explosive speed (6.95 60-yard) and some quick twitch. Although there's plenty to like offensively, the arm on the bump may provide the highest ceiling that showcases a three pitch mix that dominated hitters at the event. Features a low spin, sinking fastball in the mid to upper 80's that pounds the zone and induces consistent weak contact and whiffs at the knees with feel to the glove side. It's a curveball/slider mix with the curveball showcasing bigger 11/5 shape in the mid 70's and a tight, sweeping slider with plenty of swing and miss induced. Clean arm action with high intent.
