Prep Baseball Report's MN Top Prospect Games event took place on June 20 and 21, 2016. The event was held at Minnetonka High School in Minnetonka, MN. The event featured prospects from the 2017 class from Minnesota and North Dakota who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff and 50+ coaches in attendance. Thank you to the players, parents, my staff and Minnetonka Head Coach Paul Twenge for such a great event.

There were a number of great individual performances this year at the MN Top Prospect Games.

As we drill down into the statistics:

+ 36 players ran sub-7.2 60's.
+ 54 players recorded 85+ mph exit velocities
+ 20 players recorded 80+ mph infield throws
+ 23 players recorded 80+ mph outfield throws
+ 20 catchers recorded 70+ mph throws to second base
+ 5 catchers recorded sub-2.1 pop times
+ 47 pitchers were 80+ mph on the mound

pitching Prospects

Riley Ahern, RHP/3B, Holy Angels, 2017
6-foot-3, 220-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Strong durable build. Shows rhythm and tempo to delivery with direction to plate. Mid ¾ arm slot and with clean arm path. Showed slight run on fastball at 80-83 mph for strikes. Breaking has solid 11/5 shape with average depth. Changeup was firm with toppling action at plate. 8.25 runner. Mid/pull approach, doubles pop in bat, clean bat path, some lift at contact, simple swing mechanics, 87 mph exit velocity. Active feet in field, solid glove, average range, long release on throws, sinking action on throws from low ¾ slot, 76 mph arm strength.

Conor Bachman, RHP, East Ridge, 2017
6-foot-4, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. Lean projectable build. Athletic with balance and body control; has good extension and finish to plate. Low elbow slot on release. Fastball flashes life at 75-77 mph. 11/5 shape on breaking ball with average spin. Changeup is solid around zone. With minor arm slot adjustments; projects to add velocity.

Ryan Bastyr, 2B/RHP, Lakeville North, 2017
6-foot-3, 170-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Tall lanky frame. Consistent solid contact, mid/pull approach, short to contact, with doubles power in bat, 78 mph exit velocity. Shows solid accuracy and carry across diamond, easy actions, fields out front, tends to play flat-footed, 79 mph arm strength with clean arm action. Strike thrower who breezed through inning of work on mound. Slight hitch and deception in delivery. Short on back-side, mid ¾ slot, and opens early on release to plate. Fastball was 80-81 mph with slight run. Loose spin on breaking ball with inconsistent break.

Ross Bastyr, RHP, Lakeville North, 2017
6-foot-3, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. Physical build with defined upper half and strong lower half. High leg kick delivery. Drop and drive lower half with direction to plate. Low ¾ arm slot producing 83-86 mph fastballs with solid life and sink. Side spin on breaking ball causes flat action and break. Hand underneath baseball on changeup- elevated with flat action. Projects physically, bullpen type guy, high strike ratio in game action.

Alex Belch, RHP, Rochester John Marshall, 2017
6-foot-2, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. Athletic defined physique. Top velo on first day of event at 90 mph. Long deep arm circle translating into OT slot. Has connection in delivery with body control. Minor arm path adjustments will improve consistency with release point. Projects with above avg. stuff on mound. Fastball was 86-90 mph with cutting action and life. Sharp 12/6 breaking ball with depth. Above avg. fade on changeup thrown at fastball arm speed.

John Bezdicek, LHP/OF, Osseo, 2017
6-foot-3, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Tall lean body. Slight tuck and turn delivery with rhythm and tempo, slight hitch in stride, and lands across body. Slight crossfire in delivery with cut action on fastball at 81-83 mph. Breaking ball has good 1/7 shape and is thrown for strikes. 7.68 runner. Active load with hands and shoulder turn. Flat plane through zone, finds barrel, line drives gap to gap, with ability to use whole field, 83 mph exit velocity. Decent athlete in outfield, long arm action, solid carry and accuracy to target, 84 mph arm strength.

Matthew Bezdicek, LHP/1B, Osseo, 2017
6-foot-3, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Lean frame. Athletic actions on mound. Slight tuck and turn delivery creating deception. Quality tilt on fastball, creating tough angle on hitter, at 72-75 mph; touching 78 mph. Avg. shape on breaking ball for strikes. Changeup stalls at plate with flat action creating weak contact. 7.47 runner. Simple load and rhythm. Rotational lower half. Pull approach with average pop in bat. Produced solid exit velo’s off tee at 89 mph. Active feet at first base. Aggressive fielder. Quick release with average accuracy. Moves well around bag. 71 mph arm strength across diamond.

Matt Brooks, SS/RHP, Benilde St. Margaret’s, 2017
6-foot-2, 192-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Physical infielder. 7.28 runner. Deep load, flat bat path, quiet head in swing, consistent solid contact, above avg. pop in bat, mid/pull approach, 86 mph exit velocity. Short choppy steps to baseball, average range, shows soft glove, above avg. carry to bag with solid accuracy, 82 mph arm strength. Short arm action from ¾ slot. Upright on release with limited finish. Above avg. command of fastball to glove-side of plate with late cutting action at 81-84 mph; touching 86 mph. Flat slider action on breaking ball with 11/5 shape and high spin rate. Solid fade on changeup thrown with fastball arm speed.

Graham Burke, RHP/SS, Southwest Christian, 2017
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Lean athletic build. Compact simple delivery. Short arm action with clean path out front. Good direction with extension and finish. Downhill fastball with solid life for strikes at 78-81 mph. Breaking ball has tight rotation with 12/6 shape. Shortens arm path on changeup with solid fade in zone. 7.3 runner. Linear hitting mechanics, consistent hard line drives, works gap to gap well, solid pop in bat, 80 mph exit velocity. Active feet in field, plays on balls of feet, solid glove, short repeatable arm action, solid accuracy to bag, 82 mph arm strength.

Caleb Casey, RHP, Burnsville, 2017
6-foot-4, 215-pound right-handed pitcher. Large projectable high waisted frame. Short balance point, slight uncontrolled delivery, but shows ability to repeat in zone. Shows life on fastball that rides into right-handed hitters. Fastball was 81-85 mph for strikes. Late bloomer, interesting follow in 2017 class, that has continued to improve. Higher ceiling prospect.

Reed Collins, 3B/RHP, Farmington, 2017
6-foot, 190-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Strong frame. 7.6 runner. Athletic balanced set-up in box. Good rhythm and bat path through zone. Flashes pop in bat with mid/pull approach. Has extension through contact. 84 mph exit velocity. Fields out front with soft glove and adequate feet. Solid carry and accuracy to bag with longer release. 79 mph arm strength across diamond. Strong follow in 2017 class with bat. Simple controlled delivery with long clean arm action. Longer stride and loses lower half on release. Fastball was 74-77 mph with slight running action for strikes. 12/6 breaking was left short of plate.

Jimmy Connell, LHP, Edina, 2017
6-foot-4, 215-pound left-handed pitcher. Large projectable presence on mound. Uptempo delivery, short arm action on backside, and throws with minimal effort. Fastball is straight at 80-82 mph for strikes. Early break on curveball with avg. shape and spin. Continues to make improvements; has higher ceiling and projects with solid athleticism and body type.

Dawson Degnan, 3B/C/RHP, Cretin-Derham Hall, 2017
6-foot-1, 175-pound left-handed hitting utility player. 7.34 runner with 95 mph exit velocity. Good timing in box, clean swing, consistent hard contact, uses whole field. Versatile defender that can play in field. Solid actions with appropriate footwork. Average carry with accuracy to bag at 80 mph. Athletic actions behind plate, quick release, solid carry and accuracy to bag, 2.07-2.12 pop times with 74 mph arm strength. Athletic delivery, repeats well, and solid command of zone. Fastball was 76-79 mph with clean arm action. Early break on curveball with ability to land in zone. Slows arm on changeup but shows feel for zone.

Luke DeGrammont, LHP, Lakeville North, 2017
5-foot-10, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. Average build, competitive on mound, and shows ability to expand zone inducing weak contact. Arm-side run on fastball with above avg. command to both sides of plate. Fastball was 78-81 mph. 1/7 breaking has avg. spin, solid shape, and lands in zone consistently. Heavy sink on changeup thrown with deception and arm speed.

Tom Dolan, RHP/OF, St. Thomas Academy, 2017
6-foot-4, 180-pound right-handed pitcher/outfielder. Tall projectable frame. 6.95 runner. Interesting follow in 2017 class. Good tempo and body control in delivery. Clean arm action from ¾ slot with extension to plate. Fastball has solid varying run and cut action at 79-82 mph. Breaking ball flashes depth with solid 11/5 shape. Changeup is avg.; but should improve with present quality arm action. No stride approach, uphill path, gap to gap approach, 82 mph exit velocity. Easy actions with solid athleticism. Long clean arm action with solid carry and accuracy. 81 mph arm strength.

Derek Drees, RHP/3B, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, 2017
6-foot-5, 200-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Projectable tall frame with stronger lower half. Clean arm action with good hand acceleration out front. Fastball is consistently downhill with varying run and cut at 84-88 mph. 12/6 breaking ball shows promise; with solid spin and shape. 7.22 runner. Leg kick trigger, solid line drive bat path, some spin tendencies with lower half, some extension through contact, 86 mph exit velocity. Active feet and athletic at third base. Solid exchanges and creates good angles to target. Slight sink on throws from ¾ slot. 86 mph arm strength across.

Evan Furst, RHP, Mankato West, 2017
6-foot-3, 155-pound right-handed pitcher. Thin athletic frame. Long clean arm action with good extension and finish. Easy actions on mound and throws with minimal effort. Fastball was 81-84 mph with solid life at plate. Solid depth on breaking ball with 11/5 shape; thrown for strikes. Heavy action on changeup with developing feel for zone. Could be a sleeper in the 2017 class.

James Green, RHP/3B, St. Francis, 2017
6-foot-1, 185-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.47 runner. Strong build. Deep rocker step. Gets back over rubber, collects himself, and shows direction to plate. Some effort on release with recoil. Fastball was straight at 82-84 mph. Varying shape on breaking ball with solid spin and thrown for strikes. Some rhythm in load, inconsistent lower half in swing, simple swing path to contact, gap to gap approach, flashes pop to pull side of field, 85 mph exit velocity. Works down to up with solid glove-work and fields out front, average feet, ¾ arm slot with sinking action to target, 77 mph arm strength.

Will Gudorf, LHP/1B, Edina, 2017
6-foot-3, 215-pound left-handed 2-way player. Short balance point on mound; falls down mound to plate. High ¾ arm action with minimal effort on release. Fastball command to arm-side of plate at 78-81 mph. Inconsistent release point on 12/6 breaking ball. Flat action on changeup thrown in/around zone. 8.09 runner. Early load, flat bat path, long stride, loses posture at contact, mid/pull approach, average contact, 76 mph exit velocity. Active fielder with feet, soft glove, quick release, adequate around bag. 79 mph arm strength.

Nate Horn, OF/LHP, Elk River, 2017
5-foot-10, 150-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.31 runner. Active load, out and around at contact, flat swing plane, spray hitter, 75 mph exit velocity. Easy actions in outfield, good glove and footwork, clean arm path, average carry with solid accuracy to target, 79 mph arm strength. Uncontrolled lower half in delivery. Upright finish on release. Short arm action producing 69-71 mph fastballs. Wobbly shape on 1/7 breaking ball.

Alex Houlihan, OF/RHP, Benilde-St. Margaret’s, 2017
5-foot-10, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Solid tools across board with 7.09 60, 85 mph arm strength and 86 mph exit velocity. Spread stance, double tap trigger, opens front side early, pulls off at contact, flashes power to pull side of field, flashes of hard contact. Solid footwork, works behind and through fly-balls, longer arm action, solid carry on throws with accuracy to target. Pie arm action on mound with average extension to plate. Fastball shows arm-side run at 78-80 mph. 11/5 breaking ball has heavy rolling action to plate. Changeup tended to be flat and elevated in zone.

Jack Husemann, 1B/RHP, Eagan, 2017
6-foot-6, 230-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Runs very well for size. 6.95 60. Wide stance, slight hitch in load, flat bat plane, hard line drive contact on balls up in zone, mid/pull approach, creates bat speed with long levers- 91 mph exit velocity. Solid defender at first. Good target to throw. Adequate around bag. Long release on throws. 67 mph arm strength. Stabs down on backside, avg. arm speed, with solid direction to plate. Fastball was 76-79 mph with straight action to plate. Small break on curveball at 71-72 mph.

Charlie Hutchinson, LHP, Maple Grove, 2017
6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed pitcher. Lean build with solid athleticism. Deception on front side. Lands across body. Hand is quick out front- ball jumps on hitter. Fastball was 78-80 mph with solid feel for zone. Breaking ball has sweeping shape and shows ability to land in zone. Solid fade on changeup thrown near fastball arm speed.

Chris Isensee, LHP, Shakopee, 2017
6-foot-1, 205-pound left-handed pitcher. Strong durable build. Short release point with upright finish. Fastball shows solid arm-side run at 72-75 mph. Breaking lacks velocity; but has solid shape and thrown consistently for strikes. Cut action on changeup thrown with deception and good arm speed.

Danny Kapala, LHP, Eastview, 2017
6-foot-3, 180-pound left-handed pitcher. Lean athletic frame on mound that projects to add strength and size. Has solid body control with uptempo rhythm. Shorter arm circle on backside and is clean out front on release. Fastball was 82-84 mph with above avg. cutting action for strikes. Breaking ball shows promise with sweeping 2-plane break at 70-75 mph. Shows good feel for zone; consistently throwing changeup to arm-side of plate with fade.

Nick Kindschuh, LHP, Chanhassen, 2017
6-foot-1, 190-pound left-handed pitcher. Slight uphill tilt in delivery, mid ¾ arm slot, with solid arm-side command. Fastball was 74-76 mph with late sinking action for strikes. 1/7 breaking shows solid shape and depth in zone. Some funk and deception in delivery inducing mis-hit and weak contact.

Cam Kline, OF/RHP, Forest Lake, 2017
5-foot-11, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.18 runner with compact athletic frame. Square stance with slight leg kick stride producing 93 mph exit velocity. Clean bat path with consistent hard line drives to the gaps. Above average outfielder with arm strength. Throws 89 mph with strong accuracy and carry to target. Easy actions on mound with ability to repeat. Shows solid run on fastball at 82-85 mph; with above avg. command to glove-side of plate. Breaking ball has tight rotation, short break, and above avg. depth at plate. Above avg. arm-side run and fade on changeup. Riser in 2017 rankings.

Hunter Koep, 3B/RHP, Northfield, 2017
6-foot-4, 210-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.21 runner. Very physical with athleticism. Pull approach at plate with big raw power from pull gap to left-field line. Relatively clean bat path, slightly grooved at times, with well above average bat speed. 93 mph exit velocity. Solid feet and actions at third base. Good arm across diamond with carry and accuracy. 86 mph arm. Runs enough that corner OF could be option as well. Repeats on mound. Wrap on backside of arm circle. Moderate effort on release. Slight downhill plane on fastball with good arm strength. Fastball was 86-88 mph for strikes. 12/6 breaking ball shows solid shape and spin. Intriguing physical prospect in 2017 class with above avg. tools.

Matt Laciskey, RHP/OF, Blaine, 2017
6-foot, 180-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 6.99 runner. Long arm action, hand wraps behind head, with solid extension out front. Average life on fastball at 77-79 mph for strikes. Breaking ball was 66-67 mph with 12/6 shape. Changeup had flat action at 70-71 mph. Solid balance in box, length to contact with swoop in swing plane, effects contact, flashed hard contact to middle of field, 85 mph exit velocity. 86 mph arm strength from outfield. Shows appropriate footwork with long release. Clean arm action with solid accuracy and carry to target.

Andrew Lee, RHP/3B, Robbinsdale Cooper, 2017
6-foot-2, 210-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.57 runner. Controlled delivery on mound. Short arm action and clean out front. Fastball has solid run and sink with flashes of life at 81-84 mph. 11/5 breaking ball has solid shape and spin. Changeup has above avg. arm-side sink. Overall commanded zone well with 3-pitch mix and worked quickly. Slight hitch in load, shows solid bat speed, and stays long through zone, with mid/pull approach, 84 mph exit velocity. Usable glove, makes routine plays, average feet and range, solid arm across infield, 82 mph arm strength with accuracy.

Kaylan Legred, C/RHP, Blue Earth, 2017
5-foot-8, 145-pound switch-hitting utility player. Aggressive actions- plays extremely hard. 7.07 runner. Solid contact from left-side of plate with mid/pull approach. Tends to pull off at contact. Right-handed uses whole field with solid contact. Quiet movements behind plate. Quick twitch athlete. Above average blocker. Needs to improve receiving. Shows good footwork on throws. Quick release on throws with average carry. Throws consistently around bag with 2.00-2.13 pops and 73 mph arm strength. Sinking fastball thrown from side-arm slot. Pounds zone, competitive on mound, and makes quality pitches. Inconsistent breaking ball that should improve. Solid changeup with fade and sink out of present slot.

Ethan Lehman, RHP, Pequot Lakes, 2017
5-foot-9, 170-pound right-handed pitcher. Simple delivery, limited use of front side, upright finish. One-piece pie arm action producing 74-78 mph fastballs. Curveball had early break and rolling action to plate. Changeup had flat running action for strikes.

Leo Lerner, LHP, Cretin-Derham Hall, 2017
6-foot, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Medium build frame with stronger lower half. Compact repeatable delivery. Clean arm action with minimal effort. Fastball has solid life with varying run and cut action at 80-83 mph. Underneath breaking ball occasionally; causing loose spin with 1/7 shape. Interesting left-handed option with development of breaking ball. Solid command of fastball with late movement.

Dalton Locklear, LHP/1B, Lakeville South, 2017
6-foot, 180-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. Breaks hands early in motion, strides across body, creating cross-fire delivery to plate. Fastball was consistently down in zone for strikes at 75-77 mph. Sweeping break on curveball, thrown around the zone, at 64-67 mph. Gap to gap approach, consistent solid contact, uphill swing plane, average pop in bat. 76 mph exit velocity. Easy actions in field, solid around first base, fields out front, accurate throws to target, 75 mph arm strength.

John McCaustlin, RHP/SS, Prior Lake, 2017
6-foot-2, 175-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.15 runner. 1-piece arm action with pause on back-side. Has athletic actions. Good extension and finish to plate. Fastball was 79-82 mph with solid 2-seam downhill action. Flashes depth on breaking ball with solid shape and spin. Wide stance, rotational hitter, produces solid bat speed, consistent hard contact with pull approach, tends to fall over plate in swing, 92 mph exit velocity. Raw athlete in field, projects well, has minor things to clean up, shows accuracy across diamond at 78 mph.

Max Meyer, SS/RHP, Woodbury, 2017
6-foot, 165-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. Shortly after event- committed to U. of Minnesota. Lean loose frame. 7.29 runner. Uses lower half well in swing, good bat path, line drive swing, and shows ability to work both gaps. 90 mph exit velocity. Soft glove, good range, ability to throw from multiple angles, easy actions, 87 mph arm strength across diamond with occasional sinking action. Shows some of best all-around stuff on mound in MN 2017 class. True 3-pitch mix, thrown in any count, with above avg. action on each pitch. Fastball was 86-89 mph; touching 90 mph with late arm-side life. Tight rotation and shape on slider thrown with well above avg. velocity at 79-82 mph. 77-78 mph changeup might be best in class with late fade and sink; thrown at fastball arm speed.

Ethan Mocchi, C/RHP, Legacy Christian Academy, 2017
5-foot-10, 185-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Short strong compact frame. Shows arm strength. 77 mph to second base. 2.16-2.21 pop times around bag. Plays with energy. Active behind plate. Frames middle/in well. Needs to work on across body pitches. Load complicates timing to swing. Has balance and strength, gap to gap hitter, power should improve with better use of lower half. 7.31 runner with 86 mph exit velocity. Short arm action on mound, repeats well, throws quality strikes with average effort. Fastball had cut action at 80-83 mph. Sweeping break on curveball at 69-71 mph.

Wyatt Morrell, 2B/RHP, Elk River, 2017
6-foot, 150-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Lean athletic body. 7.3 runner. Wide stance with double tap trigger, some stiffness to swing, stays on baseball, mid/pull approach, consistent solid contact. 77 mph exit velocity. High fielding position, tends to field deep in stance, usable glove, quick release on throws with solid accuracy to bag. 72 mph arm strength. Mid ¾ slot with minimal effort. Upright finish on release. Varying action on fastball at 73-76 mph. Sneaky fastball that jumped on hitters occasionally. Early break and avg. shape on 11/5 breaking ball.

Ryan Och, LHP, Chanhassen, 2017
6-foot-2, 175-pound left-handed pitcher. Lean projectable arm that has gained significant recruiting interest through summer. Easy arm action from mid ¾ slot. Ball comes out of hand extremely clean. Late life on fastball at 82-85 mph. Inconsistent hand/release position on curveball; but flashes avg./above avg. in future. Avg. feel for changeup at 74-76 mph. Easy to dream on, projects very well, with high ceiling.

Mitchell Oehme, RHP, Minnetonka, 2017
6-foot-6, 185-pound right-handed pitcher. Tall projectable frame. Velo was down from previous outings at this event. Short arm action with limited extension out front on release. Downhill plane on fastball, thrown for quality strikes, at 83-85 mph. Velo has steadily returned through summer. Was wrapping breaking early; losing arm speed. Usable changeup in game action.

Zach Parks, SS/RHP, Apple Valley, 2017
6-foot-3, 185-pound left-handed hitting shortstop. Texas-Rio Grande Valley commit. Athletic frame with wide shoulders and lean strength. Whippy bat speed, stays in middle of field, with ability to drive gaps, consistent hard contact. 90 mph exit velocity. Athletic in field, plays uptempo, good hands and feet. Above average carry and accuracy to bag with quick release at 82 mph arm strength. Controlled delivery on mound with moderate effort on release. Pounds zone with three pitches. Athleticism translates to mound with ability to repeat and command strike zone. 81-84 mph fastball; breaking ball and changeup both show above avg. action with feel for zone.

Brodie Paulson, 3B/RHP, Woodbury, 2017
6-foot-4, 205-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. Projectable body with solid tools. 7.38 runner. Simple swing, tall to fall, clean bat path, creates good bat speed, shows ability to drive baseball to oppo gap, lacks extension through contact occasionally, 88 mph exit velocity. Average feet in field, usable glove, fields out front, long release on throws, 84 mph arm strength. Projects on mound. Slight tuck and turn. Solid arm action with above avg. extension to plate with quick arm out front. Some effort on fastball at 83-85 mph with varying run and cut action. Avg. feel for breaking ball with 12/6 shape. Heavy split action on changeup thrown with consistency.

Joshua Peterson, RHP/OF, Legacy Christian Academy, 2017
6-foot-1, 170-pound left-handed hitting 2-way player. 7.03 runner. Young build that should add quality strength. Crouched balance point with slight hitch in delivery. Short arm action producing downhill fastballs at 82-84 mph. Early break on 12/6 curveball; flashes as solid when released out front. Tips changeup slowing arm on release. Balanced swing, leg kick trigger, clean bat path, some extra parts effecting timing, squared baseball well to middle of field, 86 mph exit velocity. Good footwork with quick release in outfield. 6-foot-1, 150-pound right-handed pitcher. Pitched two quick innings during game action. Consistently threw quality strikes inducing weak contact. Short arm action on mound with upright finish on release. Fastball was 79-81 mph; consistently down in zone for strikes. Wraps breaking ball early; showing solid 12/6 shape and rotation to plate. Slight arm-side fade on changeup with solid feel for zone.

6-foot, 165-pound right-handed hitting 2-way player. Lean build with good tools. Slight tuck and turn delivery. Hides baseball and arm action is long. Fastball was 75-78 mph on downhill plane from OT slot. Rolling 12/6 breaking ball with early break and loose spin. 6.97 runner with 85 mph arm strength and 87 mph exit velocity. Front heel turn trigger, narrow base, limited use of lower half, loose swing with good hands to baseball, mid/away approach. Solid footwork on defense, fields with ease, long arm action, above average carry, throws around target.

Short draw on back-side, moderate effort, from mid ¾ slot, and turns fastball over on release. Fastball is heavy with running action at 82-85 mph. Inconsistent shape on breaking ball in this outing. Above avg. arm action and fade on changeup inducing weak contact. 7.18 runner. Mid/pull approach, solid contact, with short finish through baseball. Solid glove and footwork in outfield. ¾ slot with clean arm action. 81 mph outfield throws.

High leg kick, controlled stride, slightly across body, with avg. finish out front. Short arm action producing 78-80 mph fastballs; touching 82 mph. Lacks velo on breaking ball and changeup, raw presently, but is athletic that pitches should improve with work.

6-foot-1, 192-pound right-handed pitcher. Average build that will continue to add strength. Fast riser in the 2017 class. Some wrap and wiggle on back-side of arm action but has good hand speed; consistently throwing quality fastballs downhill to bottom of zone. Fastball was 84-86 mph with command. 11/7 breaking ball, at 72-75 mph, has solid shape and spin. Changeup is firm at 74-77 mph and is a usable pitch vs. LHH.

Nick Zwack, LHP, Monticello, 2017
6-foot-3, 195-pound left-handed pitcher. Projectable frame that should add strength. Clean arm action from OT slot with minimal effort. Solid velocity increase since previous event. Has maintained improved velocity through summer. Fastball is thrown downhill with solid command at 82-87 mph; touching 88 mph. 12/6 breaking ball has above avg. shape and depth. Tends to fall off on changeup occasionally creating flat action.
