Less than ideal weather conditions continued to be the theme last evening, but despite the cold temperatures, there was quite a bit of action on the diamond.  Here is a look at scores and highlights from across the state for Thurs, March 14.

Bethlehem 13  North Hardin 2
Junior John Riney picked up the win on the mound and also had a two-hit night at the plate with a triple and HR.  Junior catcher Blake Brangers led the offensive attack, going 2-5 with a HR and 5 RBI.  Bethlehem moves to 2-0 on the season.

Hancock County 11  Ohio County 7
The Hornets started their season with a victory as senior Ryan Wilson started on the mound going 4 innings while allowing 2 hits and striking out 8.  Sophomore Patrick McBride picked up the win in relief, tossing the final 3 innings.  Freshman Colton White had a 3-hit night to lead the offense.  Junior Tristan Bozarth contributed 2 hits and 2 RBI, senior Grant Robinson 2 hits and 2 RBI, and junior Logan Cheek 2 RBI, as well.

John Hardin 9  Seneca 4
The Bulldogs opened their season with a win as sophomore Dajour Strong pitched 4 2/3 innings in relief, allowing no earned runs, to pick up the victory.  Junior Dale Gumm collected 3 hits including a double and a triple to lead the offense.  Sophomore Dakoda Rothermel also had a 3-hit night with 2 doubles.

Green County 11  Clinton County 1
Ohio State recruit Brennen Milby went 6 innings, allowing 1 hit with 14 K's to pick up the victory as Green County opened the season with a win.  Senior Austin Walley paced the offense with 3 hits from the leadoff spot for the Dragons.

North Oldham 22  Doss 0
The Mustangs opened the season with a bang, pounding out 20 hits in the victory.  Junior Evan Cripe picked up the win, allowing just 1 hit over 5 innings.  Kentucky recruit Connor Heady went 2-3 with a HR and 3 RBI while sophomore Peter Sohn had a 4 hit night collecting 3 doubles with 2 RBI.  Sophomore Ethan Cleary contributed a double and 3 RBI, junior Austin Smith a double and 3 RBI, and sophomore Tanner Risinger 3 RBI, as well.

Rockcastle County 3  Garrard County 0
Senior RHP Boone Saylor went the distance in scattering 5 hits for the complete game shutout.  Saylor also had a big night at the plate for the Rockets, going 2-3 with 2 doubles.  Senior Chris Wren added a double and RBI to aid in the victory.

Caldwell County 7  Henderson County 4
The Tigers moved to 2-0 on the season as senior Cody Owen scattered 5 hits over 5 innings of work, allowing just one earned run in the process.  Junior Landon Burns stroked a double and scored 2 runs, while junior Jordan Young went 2-3 with an RBI to lead the offense.

Bullitt East 12  Nelson County 0
The Chargers opened their season with a 12-0 victory behind the pitching of senior Jonathan Recktenwald.  Recktenwald picked up the victory, allowing just 1 hit in 4 innings of work with 7 K's.  Senior Austin Money went 3-3 with 2 RBI and 2 R, senior Alex Richardson 2-3 with 2 RBI, and junior Alex Ralph stroked a double and had 3 RBI to lead the Bullitt East offense.

Holy Cross (Louisvile) 18  Thomas Nelson 8
Holy Cross moved to 3-0 on the season.  Senior Clayton Snider picked up the win, allowing 3 hits in 4 innings.  Junior Aaron Stahl pitched the final 2 innings with 4 K's. Stahl was the offensive star on the night, collecting 4 hits with 3 doubles and 3 RBI.  Other offensive contributors included senior Kyle Norris (2B, 2RBI), sophomore Drew Cheathem (2 doubles, 2 RBI), and sophomore CJ Phillips (2B). 

Logan County 3  Warren East 2
Sophomore RHP Caleb Bruner went the distance with 10 K's in picking up the win for the Cougars who moved to 2-0 on the season.  Murray State recruit Dustin Cartas went 3-3 with 2 RBI to lead the Logan County offense.  Warren East LHP Hunter Green racked up 10 K's in 4 innings of work.

Christian Academy of Louisville 5  Jeffersontown 3
Senior pitcher Sam Stone went 6 innings with 6 K's as CAL won their opening game of the season.
