Top Future Games Trials Catchers

Tyler Blittersdorf C / OF / John Carroll, MD / 2019

The class of 2019 prospect demonstrated his versatility to play all over the field as he showed in the outfield, at third base, behind the plate, and on the mound. His pops averaged 2.07 (2.00 best) and were on the money all five times. At third base, he was smooth, showed good hands and had quick exchange. Even more impressive however was his two rounds of BP. Blittersdorf hits from a wide stance using a leg kick for rhythm and timing. He has a more compact swing and does a nice job staying behind the ball. He is a line drive, gap to gap hitter with present pull-side power from the left side of the plate. Blittersdorf was also 77-80 on the mound topping at 82 mph with a 63-65 mph breaking ball with 11/5 shape, 72-74 mph change-up, and 70-71 mph 10/4 slider.

Mason Burke 2B / C / Loyola Blakefield, MD / 2021

Burke showed at shortstop and behind the plate. Behind the dish, Burke was on the money with his throws to second base. Average pop of 2.14 (2.06 best). Line drive, gap to gap left handed hitter starts from an open stance, quick hands and quick bat speed (80 mph Exit Velo). Smaller frame, interesting prospect to watch develop and grow.

Charles Hafer III OF / C / John Carroll, MD / 2020

Coming of a great Top Prospect Games, Hafer backed it up with another very nice Future Games Trials workout. At the plate, Hafer is aggressive and attacks the ball with a shorter compact swing. His hands and bat are quick (89 mph exit velo). Hafer took two nice rounds of BP hitting several line drives all over the field and showed some power to the gaps. He is also a versatile player defensively as he can catch and play the outfield. Behind the dish, Hafer has quick feet and a quick exchange. Pops range from 2.03 - 2.18.

Christopher Hagan C / 2B / Gerstell Academy, MD / 2020

Hagan is an interesting class of 2020 prospect to keep and eye on. Behind the plate he threw and average pop of 2.09 and showed a very quick exchange. At the plate, Hagan is quiet and uses a leg kick to get his rhythm and timing. He attacks the ball with a more compact swing hitting several line drives and showing some power to the gaps.

Jordan Reiswig C / OF / Bel Air, MD / 2022

Reiswig showed in the outfield and behind the plate. From the outfield he hit 82 mph OF Velo and behind the plate he threw an average 2.13 pop (2.09 best). A very projectable frame at 6’2’’ 175 lbs., Reiswig is more of a line drive type hitter right now with occasional pop to the gaps. He creates good separation at the plate and really fires his lower half. There is more power in his bat and he will certainly be a fun one to watch.

Top Future Games Trials Pitchers

Bobby Duffy 3B / RHP / North Harford, MD / 2020

The class of 2020 prospect showed very well on the mound in addition to third base and at the plate. On the bump, Duffy was 80-82 topping at 83 mph with a 63-65 mph 11/5 shape breaking ball and 72-74 mph change-up with some dive. Duffy has good rhythm in his windup and gets to a nice balanced position before driving off the rubber. Throws from a high ¾ arm slot with some arm speed and effort.

Myles Janson RHP / OF / John Carroll, MD / 2019

Janson showed at first base and in the outfield but really caught some eyes on the mound. He sat 80-82 topping out at 83 mph. Janson also filled up the zone with a 66-69 mph change-up with fade. Quick rhythm and long, loose arm action. Quick arm speed and really works downhill. At 6’5’’ 205 lbs. it’s easy to believe there is more in the tank.

Ethan Ledig RHP / 3B / Leonardtown, MD / 2020

Ledig was 77-79 topping out at 81 mph with lots of arm side run. He featured a 71-72 mph slider, a tight 12/6 shape 68-69 mph curveball that falls off the table, and 72-74 mph change-up during his bullpen at the Future Games Trials. Ledig has a nice smooth rhythm in his delivery and really drops and drives hard off the rubber. Velocity will come as he gets stronger, lanky with a loose arm and pitches with easy effort.

Austin May RHP / Linganore, MD / 2022

Much to like from this class of 2022 prospect. Already at 6’0’’, the weight will come. May threw a ton of strikes and has a really good feel for his pitches. They righty sat 71-72 mph with a 63-64 mph late breaking 12/6 shape curveball and a 66-70 mph change-up with good fade. Smooth wind-up and delivery, comes from over the top. Long, loose arm actions. Velocity will really jump when he starts to use his lower half more.

Ethan McCormick SS / RHP / Archbishop Spalding , MD / 2020

In addition to playing shortstop at the Future Games Trials, McCormick also showed his ability to pitch in his bullpen. McCormick threw a ton on strikes and sat 81-82 mph in his bullpen with a 69-71 mph sweeping slider, and 74-77 mph heavy power change. Really exciting versatile prospect in the 2020 class. Smooth wind-up and delivery, gets to a great balance position, quick arm action and throws with some effort. Ball comes out of his hand easy.

Ryan McIntyre RHP / 1B / Walt Whitman, MD / 2020

Projectable 6’1’’ 155 lb. lanky frame. Smooth wind-up and delivery, gets to a nice balance position. Shorter arm action, quick arm speed, comes at you from a ¾ arm slot. McIntyre sat 76-78 with an 11/5 shape 67-69 mph breaking ball and a 72-73 mph change-up with dive.

James Michel 3B / RHP / Archbishop Curley, MD / 2021

Michel has a projectable frame at 6’3’’ 170 lbs. In addition to showing at third base, Michel was also 77-79 on the mound topping at 80 mph. His fastball has some arm side run and his breaking ball was 67-69 with 11/5 shape and late breaking action. Michel also threw a change-up at 72-74 with good dive and a 68-71 mph cutter. Long, loose arm action, throws with easy effort. Velo will jump as he gets stronger for sure. Lots to like from this 2021 prospect.

Stephen Schenning RHP / 3B / Loyola Blakefield, MD / 2021

Two-way guy, Schenning also showed at third base during the Future Games Trials. In his bullpen he sat 77-79, topping out at  80 mph. Big 11/5 shape 67-69 mph breaking ball and 71-74 mph change-up with fade. Bigger 5’11’’ 170 lb. frame, smooth wind-up and delivery, throws from a high ¾ arm slot. More velocity to come from this exciting class of 2021 prospect as he gets his lower half more involved.

Van Switzer RHP / OF / Howard, MD / 2021

Dual guy having also worked out in the outfield (79 mph OF Velo). Controlled wind-up and delivery. Gets to a good balance position, good separation, throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Strike thrower with plus feel for all of his pitches. Sat 73-75 mph with some cut action on the fastball and threw a big breaking 12/6 and 11/5 shape 60-62 mph curveball and a 60-65 mph change-up. Interesting class of 2021 prospect to watch grow and develop.

Cole Tarleton LHP / 1B / Leonardtown , MD / 2021

Projectable 6’1’’ 170 lb. lanky frame. Controlled, smooth wind-up and delivery. Pitches with easy effort from a ¾ arm slot. More in the tank as he gets his lower half more involved. Sat 73-75 mph with a big slow 11/5 shape 53-55 mph breaking ball and a 61-62 mph change-up with good arm speed. Interesting left handed pitching prospect to take a look at from the class of 2021.

Hunter Tipton RHP / 3B / John Carroll, MD / 2019

In addition to working out in the outfield, Tipton threw well in his bullpen sitting 78-81 with arm side run and some sink. He topped out at 82 mph and featured a 68-71 mph breaking ball with 10/4 shape, and 72-75 mph change-up with fade. Rock back wind-up, short arm action and throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Has a tendency to land closed and throw across his body. Couple small tweaks should help free him up more and increase the velocity.

Champ Wert RHP / 1B / Arundel, MD / 2020

Big 6’2’’ 225 lb. frame. Smooth wind-up and delivery, throws from a high ¾ arm slot. Sat 78-80 mph with arm side run. 10/4 shape slider was 65-66 mph and change-up was 73-74 mph. Long back arm action and quick arm.
