Every Monday throughout the season we will release our updated Power 25. With a week and a half in the books, today we release our first update. Eight new teams enter the rankings and we also have a new number one team in the Old Line state. 

Coming in at number one is Huntingtown from Calvert County and the SMAC Conference. The Hurricanes dominated their competition going (4-0) to open the season and outscored their opponents 57-1. Sherwood jumps to number two after also opening (4-0) with wins over Churchill, No. 13 Walt Whitman, Blake, and Clarksburg. 

Rounding out the top five are preseason number one Archbishop Spalding (6-2), preseason number two Calvert Hall (6-2), and the defending 3A state champion Thomas Johnson Patriots (3-0) from Frederick County. 

Sixteen teams in the updated Power 25 remain unbeaten to open the season and eleven conferences are represented by at least one school. Montgomery County leads the way with five schools in this edition of the Power 25. But enough talk, let's look at our new Power 25 with the first week and a half in the books.
