March is finally here and baseball tryouts have officially hit the ground running for Public Schools across the Old Line State. This year, we have decided to keep the same format as last year as we will keep two separate rankings throughout the Spring season. All Maryland Private schools will be considered in this year's weekly PBR Maryland Private Schools Top 10 rankings while only Public schools will be considered in our traditional PBR Maryland Public Schools Power 25. An update to these rankings will be released every Monday throughout the season.

Season Snapshot

The expectations for the Stephen Decatur Seahawks are high for 2022, and a 3A state championship run is in sight. The Seahawks roster is rich in talent on both sides of the ball, with one of the deepest pitching staffs in all of Maryland.

On the bump, The Seahawks have a plethora of arms to turn to led by Senior righty Logan Tapman (Lynchburg), Senior lefty Shawn Rosemond (Salisbury) and Junior two-way Ryan McLaughlin.  Sophomore righty Dalton Blades will also add a ton of innings on the bump, as his pitch arsenal continues to excel, running the fastball into the high 80's. Junior Owen Knerr will also be a key piece to the Decatur rotation, as his stock continues to rise across the state. The depth and talent on the bump is eye-opening and will be intriguing to follow all season long.

The Decatur offense struggled last season and coming into 2022, that will be the only glaring question mark throughout the season. There is plenty of depth and talent throughout the lineup, however like last year, consistency will be key. McLaughlin, Rosemond (Salisbury), Ashten Snelsire, and Knerr all look to have breakout seasons at the dish, with plenty of underclassmen providing depth throughout.
