Munster Downs Boon Grove 7-4

With Junior RHP Mike Poulos (2013) on the mound, Munster had a solid chance to beat visiting Boone Grove on Tuesday night.  However, things started out rough for Poulos and Munster as they gave Boone Grove an early 3-0 lead in the first.  Jason Sawa (2013) and Zach Cobb (2012) both singled, while Cody Poynter (2013) had an RBI double.  

Despite the rough first inning, Poulos eventually settled in, allowing just one hit in the remaining six innings, while striking out seven. His velocity was 79-84, hitting 86 mph in the third. Munster would rally with the bats, scoring in the third, fourth, and fifth innings. Chris Slivka (2012, Emory) singled in Collin Mudroncik (2012) in the third, while senior Tyler Cole (2012) would do damage in the fourth, hitting a double and scoring a run.

Sophomore Alex Del Rio (2014) got things started in the fifth with a leadoff double, followed by a single by Scott Jerge (2012, Valparaiso) and a sacrifice fly by Christian Catania (2012). Munster would score all seven runs in the three innings, while Boone Grove would add one run in the 4th inning, due to errors.

Surprising Players of the Day: Munster's Tyler Cole (2012) and Boone Grove's AJ Mosier (2012). Cole had himself a day at the plate, going 2-3 with a double (power gap shot) and RBI. Mosier was a funky right hander who was 78-81, hitting 82 on several occasions.
