North Carolina Team Notes

DI JUCOs

Louisburg

  • Lost a midweek game to Brunswick CC 12-6.  Phillip Boykin and Cody Willis homered in the loss for the Hurricanes.
  • Swept a Sunday doubleheader vs. Lenoir CC winning 4-0 and 4-3.
  • Cole Leneschmidt went the distance on the mound in game one, allowing 0 runs, giving up 4 hits, 0 walks and striking out 8.

 

DII JUCOs

Brunswick CC

  • No. 14 in last week's PBR's JUCO DII Rankings
  • Defeated Louisburg in a midweek game 12-6.  Easton Jones homered in the victory.
  • Swept a weekend series against Wake Tech CC. W 6-1, W 4-2, W 9-0
  • Josh Jarman tossed 6 innings, striking out 10 in game one.
  • Grant Smith got the mound win in game two, striking out 10 in the 7-inning complete game.

Catawba Valley CC

  • Defeated Rockingham CC on Tuesday 7-6.  Andrew Patrick got the win on the mound, going 6 innings and striking out 11.
  • Dropped a Wednesday game to Florence Darlington Tech CC 16-4.
  • Lost 2 of 3 to Southeastern CC over the weekend. L 4-3, W 4-2, L 3-1
  • Blake Dockery was strong in the game one loss, allowing 1 ER and striking out 14 in 7.1 innings.
  • Sabion Thomas went 1-2 with 2 RBI’s in the game 2 victory.

Wake Tech CC

  • Got swept by Brunswick over the weekend. L 6-1, L 4-2, L 9-0
  • Chris Mauck was strong on the mound in game one, tossing 8 innings, allowing 4 hits, 2 earned runs, and striking out 6.
  • Tyler Vaughn homered in the game two loss.

Pitt CC

  • Defeated Barton JV in a midweek game 14-4.  Garrett Tyndall went 3-6 with 5 RBI’s and homerun in the victory.
  • Swept a Sunday doubleheader vs. Fayetteville Tech CC after being rained out on Saturday.  W 8-1, W 14-10.
  • Chandler Blackwelder went 3-5 including a triple and homerun, with 3 RBI’s in game one.
  • Bryce Lewis went 2-3 with a double, triple and 3 RBI’s in game two.

Guilford Tech CC

  • Took 2 of 3 from Bryant & Stratton College on the weekend.  W 11-1, L 10-2, W 14-3
  • Landon Dennis got the mound win in game three, tossing 5 relief innings, allowing 0 runs and striking out 5.
  • Zach Martinez hit a grand slam in the game three win.

Lenoir CC

  • Midweek game vs. Methodist JV and Saturday doubleheader vs. Louisburg rained out.
  • Dropped a Sunday doubleheader to Louisburg. L 4-0, L 4-3
  • Andrew Sheppard went 2-3 in the game one loss.
  • Blake Gipson was strong on the mound in game two going 6 innings, allowing 1 earned run and striking out 8.

Southeastern CC

  • Took 2 of 3 from CVCC over the weekend. W 4-3, L 4-2, W 3-1
  • JJ Oxendine got the mound win in game one, tossing a complete game, allowing 7 hits with 7 strikeouts.
  • Trent McKay hit a 3 run homerun in the game three win.

 

DIII JUCOs

Rockingham CC

  • No. 10 in last week's PBR DIII JUCO Rankings
  • Dropped a midweek game to CVCC 7-6.
  • Took 2 of 4 from Surry CC over the weekend.  L 3-2(10 inn), W 8-3, W 11-5, L 3-2
  • Kelsey Weems hit a grand slam and Blake Cleverley hit a 3 run homerun in game two.
  • Zack Mcginnis went 4-5 with a double, triple and 2 RBI’s in the game three win.

Surry CC

  • Lost a midweek game to Patrick Henry CC 12-1.  Logan Philemon went 1-4 with an RBI in the loss.
  • Won 2 of 4 vs. Rockingham CC over the weekend. W 3-2(10 inn), L 8-3, L 11-5, W 3-2
  • Brady Drennen had the walk off hit in game one.
