Prep Baseball Report's NE Prospect ID event took place on Monday, June 11, 2018. The event was held at Doc Ross Field on the campus of Iowa Western CC. The event featured prospects from the 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 classes who showcased their talents in front of our scouting staff. Thank you to the players, parents, along with the coaching staff from Reiver Baseball for a great event and working so hard to allow this event to take place.

Ryan Raabe, OF, Bishop Nuemann

5-foot-6, 120 pound left handed hitting outfielder ran a 7.51 60 yard sprint. Square stance, leg kick trigger, arm bar, flatten out barrel through the zone. All fields approach, ground ball contact. Posted an 72 mph exit velocity off a tee. Topped out at 64 mph from the outfield, plays the ball out front, extended actions, clean transfer, extra tap in release. 

Tyler Tobey, 3B, North Platte

5-foot-11, 140 pound infielder ran a 7.58 60 yard sprint. Slender build. Open stance, leg kick triggers, linear barrel path through the zone. Sporadic contact during round of BP.Posted an 71 mph exit velocity off a tee. Avg. actions in the infield, field the ball deep in stance, extra glove tap with release, Topped out at 69 mph across the infield.

William Coe, RHP/3B, North Platte

5-foot-11, 140 pound two way player ran a 7.95 60 yard sprint. Slender build. Wide open stance, toe tap trigger, looping barrel path. Sporadic contact during round of BP. All field approach. Posted an 70 mph exit velocity off a tee. In the infield, high energy actions, feet work, hands play outfront, topped out at 74 mph across the infield. On the mound topped out at 73 mph with his fastball. Arm in long and loose, flashes quickness out front. Repeats well, stays on line. Fastball is straight. 11/7 shape on breaking ball with late break. 66-69 mph changed up has fading action to his arm side.

Hogan Helligso, C, Elkhorn South

5-foot-10, 145 pound catcher ran a 7.38 60 yard sprint. Wide slightly open stance, leg kick trigger, hard contact to pull side. Posted an 77 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.09-2.28 range. Low base, relaxed primary stance, soft hands, strong receiver, Quick to block, stays under control. Sways to stick.

Brock Merkel, C, Lincoln Southwest

5-foot-8, 170 pound left handed hitting catcher ran a 7.45 60 yard sprint. Open stance, leg kick trigger, deep barrel through the zone, pull side approach, uphill barrel path. Posted an 83 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.15-2.34 range. Low set up, relaxed glove, beats ball to the spot. Tendency to be slow to block, sound position, under control.

Luke Jessen, OF/LHP, Elkhorn South

5-foot-8, 160 pound two way player ran a 7.02 60 yard sprint. Wiry frame. Open stance, leg kick trigger, pull-side approach, looseness in hands, hard line drive contact during round of BP. Posted an 84 mph exit velocity. Playable actions in the outfield, clean transfers, hitch on backside of high ¾ arm slot, topped out at 82 mph to the catcher. On the mound topped out at 78 mph from a high ¾ arm slot. Some effort in delivery, short arm action on the backside, long and loose out-front. Natural run to his arm side, 2/8 shape on 65-66 breaking ball, above average change up with downward action in the zone. Strong follow as he continues to develop in the 2021 class.

Corey Palmer, SS/RHP, Millard North

6-foot, 160 pound two way player ran a 7.21 60 yard sprint. Open stance, toe top trigger, linear barrel path. Middle/Away approach, ground ball and line drive contact during round of BP. Posted an 79 mph exit velocity off a tee. Corner actions in the infield, works to the ball, extra glove tap with release, topped out a 73 mph across the infield. On the mound topped out at 77 mph with his fastball. Simple repeatable mechanic, high ¾ arm slot. Fastball mostly left up in the zone.  10/6 shape on breaking ball, late break and tight spin. Change up is flat, thrown down in the zone.

Jackson Brockett, 1B/LHP, Elkhorn South

5-foot-11, 165 pound first baseman ran a 7.16 60 yard sprint. Slight open stance, short leg kick trigger, slight uphill barrel path, hard line drive contact to pull side. Posted an 80 mph exit velocity off a tee. Mature actions at first base, clean transfers, plays and feet work easy, topped out at 74 mph across the infield.

Tyler VanDerwerken, C, Bellevue West

5-foot-11, 155 pound catcher ran a 7.52 60 yard spring. Slightly open tall stance, leg kick trigger, loose easy barrel path through the zone. Sporadic contact during round of BP. Posted an 73 mph exit velocity off a tee. Threw to 2nd in the 2.27-2.41 range. High set up, low glove movements, Side saddled set up, quick to block, tendency to pick balls in the dirt.

Landon Goeser, SS/RHP, Elkhorn South

6-foot-2, 165 pound two way player ran a 7.20 60 yard sprint. Lean athletic frame. Open stance, short leg kick, rhythm in swing, line drive pull side approach. One of the top BP rounds at the event. Posted an 79 mph exit velocity. Corner actions in the infield, feet have a tendency to get stuck rather than working through the ball, shows athleticism in movements, topped out at 77 mph across the infield. On the mound, topped out at 78 mph with his fastball, gets on a downhill plane, fairly straight. 10/6 shaped and late breaking on 63-67 mph breaking ball. Heavy run on change up. Strong follow for the 2021 class in Nebraska as he continues to develop physically.

5-foot-9, 145 pound catcher ran a 7.97 60 yard sprint. Square stance, short stride trigger, slightly downhill swing plane, ground ball/line drive contact during round of BP. Middle approach. Posted an 82 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.29-2.31 range. Wide stance, sway and sticks, glove gets into body on low pitches. Extra body movement. Great glove when blocking. Athletic actions in hips.

Austin Den Hoed, C/RHP, Papillion LaVista South

5-foot-11, 150 pound two way player ran a 7.83 60 yard sprint. On the mound topped out at 74 mph with his fastball. Straight action, sporadic around the zone. Mid ¾ arm slot, stiffness in lower half. Little movement on 63-66 mph breaking ball. Change up was left up in the zone. At the plate, Slightly open stance, weight shift triggers, spun off ball. Sporadic contact. Posted an 72 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.27-2.53 range. Wide set up, receives deep, jumps to block.

Jason Bishop, OF/RHP, Bellevue East

5-foot-8, 145 pound two way player ran a 7.59 60 yard sprint. Square stance, leg kick triggers, hands work down to the ball, middle/away approach. Inconsistent contact during round of BP. Posted a 73 mph exit velocity off a tee. Behind the plate threw to 2nd in the 2.37-2.56 range. Narrow stance, goes and gets the pitch, pulls head blocking. On the mound, topped out at 71 mph from a mid ¾ arm slot. Fastball as short run action to his armside, 10/6 shaped breaking ball thrown in the strike zone. Downward movement on changeup in the zone.

Gage Allen, 3B, Bellevue West

5-foot-10, 150 pound infielder ran a 7.51 60 yard sprint. Slightly open stance, short stride gets him closed, extended arm bar. Line drive swing plane, pull side ground ball and line drive contact during round of BP. Posted an 84 mph exit velocity off a tee. In the infield, sound actions, active feet, glove works out front, extra tap in release, topped out at 79 mph across the infield.

Conner Filer, 1B, Millard West 

6-foot-1, 180 pound infielder ran a 7.36 60 yard sprint. Tall stance, low hands, quite action, leg kick triggers aggressive slightly uphill swing plane. Line drive contact during round of BP. Posted an 84 mph exit velocity off a tee. At first base, feet work, avg. glove, plays out front, mid ¾ arm slot that topped out at 74 mph across the infield.

Kyler Randazzo, SS, Elkhorn

6-foot, 186 pound infielder ran a 7.11 60 yard sprint. Athletic build, some present strength in upper half. Open stance, leg kick trigger, some hitch in load, compact line drive swing plane, pull side approach. Ground ball/line drive contact during round of BP. Posted an 92 mph exit velocity off a tee. In the infield, works around and through the ball, hands play out-front, topped out at 79 mph across the infield. Strong follow for the 2021 class as he continues to develop.

Nolan Peterson, 3B, Lincoln Southwest 

5-foot-11, 220 pound third basemen ran a 8.51 60 yard sprint. Square stance, toe tap trigger, down hill line drive swing plane, middle of the field approach, ground ball contact during round of BP. Posted an 81 mph exit velocity off a tee. In the infield, works directly through the ball, feet work in sync, glove plays out-front, extra couple hops in transfer, topped out 71 mph across the infield.
