With more than 120 scouts in attendance, the 14th Annual Super 60 Pro Showcase delivered many highlights by prospects from 19 different states on Sunday, Feb. 7 at The Max in McCook, IL. Throughout the coming weeks we will produce content highlighting the top performers, the biggest risers and much more from the event, but today we take a quick look at the best statistical performances, which includes two event records.

Although statistics only paint a partial picture of how well a player performed, these numbers are pretty telling for early February:

New England Insider: Candidates for 2017 Super 60

Benjamin Casparius, RHP/INF

Name: Benjamin Casparius
Position: RHP/INF
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6-foot-1.5, 195 pounds
High School: Staples High School
Ranking: 1st in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: UNC

Outlook: A 6-foot-1.5, 195-pound right-handed pitcher. Currently the fastball is in the upper-80s, with a sprinkle of 90 mph. With a small jump in velocity, might get him to another level. The curveball is in the mid-70s, and has late 11-5 break to it. Shows the ability to throw it for strikes. Up to this point Casparius has been able to manhandle hitters with his fastball and curveball, and hasn't had to use changeup much. With the arm action being so clean and easy, the development of change should be quite easy. Plays up the middle as well, shows to have some pop to the pull side. Projects to be off the mound at the next level.

Chris Lanzilli, MIF

Name: Chris Lanzilli
Position: MIF
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6’2/190
HS: Dexter (Mass)
Ranking: 2nd in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: Wake Forest

Outlook: Big and physical middle infielder who shows the ability to stick at the position. Can handle the pivot with ease and make all the throws. The bat plays as he is strong and has the ability to maneuver the barrel and spread the field. The frame will fill out further and he will garner a great deal of attention from the pro level.

Jared Shuster, LHP

Name: Jared Shuster
Position: LHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6’3/190
HS: Tabor Academy
Ranking: 10th in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: Uncommitted

Outlook: Shuster has made significant strides in the last 15 months to add velocity to his pitches and harness his ability. The fastball has downward plane to it and touches 90 mph. The slot is slightly higher than ¾ and allows him to have the makings of a plus changeup. The breaking stuff is a work in progress. The frame is long and lanky, adding weight should come easily on the right regimen.

Ian Seymour, LHP

Name: Ian Seymour
Position: LHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6’1/185
HS: St. John’s Shrewsbury
Ranking: 11th in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: Virginia Tech

Outlook: A quick-armed left-handed pitcher who shows a fastball in the mid to upper-80s with a feel for a changeup and slider. The arm is long on the backside and the fastball has outstanding boar and action to it. The delivery is clean. but comes out of it occasionally, due to effort. The arm gets good extension and he has a plan on how to pitch. When its all said and done he should be 6-foot-2, 200-pounds.

Joseph Simeone, RHP

Name: Joseph Simeone
Position: RHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6’3/210
HS: Groton-Dunstable
Ranking: 15th in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: Uncommitted

Outlook: Simeone is a very interesting right-hander, who has an electric arm. The delivery is a bit out of control and he lacks command but his control has improved in the last year as has his stuff. The fastball has the makings of a low to mid-90s fastball in the future. When it comes to the spin, he needs to choose a slider or breaking ball, however he does have the correct shape to it. The changeup is hard but shows plus action and life at times.  Based on ability, he could be a good pick down the road.

Sam Lara, RHP

Name: Sam Lara
Position: RHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6’4/235
HS: Central Catholic
Rankings: 17th in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: St. John’s

Outlook: Big and burly right-handed pitcher who will sneak out of New England to attend St. John’s in the city. The stuff is currently headed in the right direction, fastball is touching 90 mph. The slider is an out-pitch at 78 mph and Lara spins a breaking ball at 74 mph. The changeup is a tick hard at this point but should improve with time. His games will get full attention during his senior year.

Jake Randolph, LHP

Name: Jake Randolph
Position: LHP
Grade: 2017
Height/Weight: 6’6/210
HS: Exeter
Ranking: 26th in New England's 2017 class
College Commitment: Uncommitted

Outlook: Hard to ignore the size of this left-hander, 6-foot-6, 210-pounds. Randolph only pitches in the mid-80s now, but in two springs we will know more. The secondary stuff is a work in progress, but with this ideal leverage and length, it could be a team’s dream. Has a ways to go, of course, but lookout if he figures it out.
