New England Insider: Class of 2019 Player Rankings (August)

In our initial player rankings of the 2019 class we take a look at the top 110 players in the New England Region. We have seen numerous prospects over the past spring and summer at PBR events, local workouts and games from across the region, and a lot of time and thought put in from our staff with these updated rankings.

That being said, we have had the pleasure of seeing a number of solid players this past spring and summer. Prospects are popping up left and right, making velocity jumps, improving 60-yard dash times and showing more power with the bat.

Covering six states, New England is a prime area for legit baseball talent and now we would like to bring to you the updated 2019 Player Rankings.

TOP OF THE CLASS

The summer season is coming to a close and we here at PBR New England just finished our initial Class of 2019 Top Prospect Games. First we would like to take a look at couple of the players from in the top 10 of the rankings.

Position Players in Top 10

Daniel BaruchLets start with positional players ranked in the top 10. Daniel Baruch (pictured right), ranked 1st overall, is right-handed hitting, left-handed throwing first baseman/outfielder from the Wheeler School in Rhode Island. Athletic, who can play either position. Very adept around the bag at first. The bat really stands out as he is advanced with the barrel.

Other position players in the Top 10:

  • Chad Knight, ranked 2nd from Staples High School in Connecticut is another positional player with thunder in his bat. The glove sticks at third and he can jump on the mound if need be.
  • Tucker FlintTucker Flint (pictured right) of Bishop Hendricken is ranked 5th. A physically gifted left-handed hitting outfielder. Shows potential at the plate and good ability in the outfield.
  • Ryan Proto, 2019 right-handed hitting catcher from Barnstable High School on the cape is ranked 6th. Defensively, he is advanced, you could stick him in a college game right now, and he would be fine. The bat has life and he shows good athleticism.
  • Ben Kailher, right-handed hitting shortstop from Providence Country Day in Rhode Island is ranked 8th. Flashy with the glove, plenty of arm to stay at shortstop and good instincts as well. The bat has life and he is a plus runner.
  • Barry Walsh, 9th ranked from Wachusett Regional is a legit athlete. Plays centerfield, pitches and is a switch-hitter. The future will tell where he ends up but for now, his athleticism is impressive.
  • Sean Helfrich, right-handed hitting outfielder from LaSalle Academy is ranked 10th in our rankings. Put on an offensive display this past weekend at Clark University. Good looking athlete.

Pitchers in the Top 10

Henry WeyckerRankings on the bump start out with Henry Weycker, ranked 3rd is the first pitcher to be mentioned in the rankings. Fresh off his performance at the Future Games, where he flashed a well above average spin pitch. The Wellesley High School pitcher is a guy to watch these coming years.

Other pitchers in the Top 10:

  • Nick McDonald, 4th ranked athletic right-hander from St Johns Shrewsbury has a bright future on the mound. Showed well above average stuff this past weekend, bumping 86 mph.
  • Evan Moore, right-handed pitcher from Kingswood Oxford is ranked 7th. The lanky right-hander opened eyes at the Future Games earlier this month, keep an eye on his progress.

We will continue to add to our rankings heading into the fall and winter, for now click here to see the full Class of 2019 rankings in New England.
