New PA Top 25 Poll Released

The final regular season Top 25 rankings are out and the No. 1 team has not changed.  Norwin (17-0), remains at the top of the rankings and appears primed for a run at a state championship. The WPIAL playoffs start next week and Norwin will go swinging into the postseason. The Knights average 9.4 runs per game and have a team batting average of .358. The leaders are the No. 1 ranked player in the class of 2014, J.J. Matijevic (.510 average), Max Redovan (.467) and Nick Kolat (.450). Kolat also has a 7-0 pitching record with three saves while Nick Cubarney is 5-0.

A new team to this week’s rankings appears to be ready to make some noise.  No. 18 Central Catholic (15-4), warmed up for the first round of the WPIAL playoffs by downing No. 13 Seneca Valley in a non-section game yesterday.

Also new to this week’s Top 25 are No. 20 Council Rock South, No. 21 Ellwood City and No. 22 Hatboro-Horsham. Shippensburg, Twin Valley, Central Bucks West and Shaler all dropped out of the Top 25 this week.
