Prep Baseball Report Oklahoma ran its first OK Pre-Draft Showcase on Friday at Central Oklahoma. Twelve players who were nominated by scouts and agents participated in the event in front of over 25 professional scouts. Each position player went through a pro-style workout and each pitcher threw a pen.

MACK CHAMBERS SS / BROKEN ARROW, OK / 2018

The Seminole State commit has a lean 5-foot-11, 165-pound frame with wiry strength. Offensively, the competent switch hitter shows best from the left-side where he has more pop, leaving the yard multiple times and finding barrels more consistently. Bats from a slightly knock-kneed and back leg heavy set-up with rhythm throughout. Uses a slight leg lift load before launching his hands on an uphill path with a high finish. In BP, shows surprising pop with a gap-to-gap approach from the left-side finding almost all barrels, more middle to opposite field and flat from the right. Defensively, shows bouncy and athletic actions with advanced hands and clean footwork with rhythm and some flash. Throws with a short arm stroke from multiple arm slot with accuracy, 82 mph across the diamond. 

TYLER CULVER RHP / PAWHUSKA HIGH , OK / 2014

A 6-foot-3, 190-pound proportional frame. The right-hander works from an average tempo and repeatable delivery with a moderate leg kick. Arm action is long in the back with a quick change of direction before coming through a high-¾ slot, keeping his hand behind the baseball. Fastball keeps its plane at  89-91 mph, mostly strikes, some down in the zone. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed for strikes in the bottom of the zone with late and heavy fade, 84-85 mph. Slider is short with some depth and 10/4 shape 79-82 mph, around the zone.   

TUCKER DUNLAP C / BROKEN ARROW, OK / 2018

The Seminole State commit has a 5-foot-11, 195-pound frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a relaxed, open, and slightly back leg heavy set-up with some rhythm throughout. Uses a smooth load and slight leg kick before launching his hands on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a flat and pull approach flashing some pop, 88 mph exit velo. Ran a 4.4 home-to-first. Defensively, Dunlap is an advanced receiver with soft hands. Shows consistent footwork and exchanges out of the crouch, throws from a typical catchers slot with carry and accuracy and consistency, 2.00-2.07 showcase pop times, 77 mph. 

KOHL FRANKLIN RHP / BROKEN ARROW, OK / 2018

The Oklahoma commit has a 6-foot-4, 195-pound lean frame with some strength throughout and predictability. The right-hander pitches from an average tempo delivery with a long arm action in the back, coming through a high-3/4 slot. Four seam fastball had slight downhill tilt at 89-91 touching 92 and 93 on one scouts gun, mostly strikes. Two seam has some arm-side run at 89-90. Changeup is thrown with full arm speed and has late fade 80-82 mph, thrown for a strike and as a chase pitch. Slider has slurve shape with some depth and some late action when at the bottom of the zone or below, 75-78 mph.

LOGAN GRAGG RHP / PRAIRIE GROVE , AR / 2016

The Oklahoma State commit has a physically impressive 6-foot-4, 200-pound frame with length. The right-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm. Uses a high leg lift that he kicks out of on his way down the mound. Arm action has moderate length in the back before coming through a high-¾ slot. Fastball was down from where it has been before, keeping its plane at 89-90 mph. Breaking ball has slurve shape and gradual depth at 70-72 mph. Changeup is thrown with less than full arm speed at 86-87 mph with moderate late fade. All three pitches thrown at or below the bottom of the zone consistently.  

CJ IVY OF / BROKEN ARROW, OK / 2018

The Seminole State commit has a 5-foot-11, 175-pound lean and athletic frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a back leg heavy set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a small leg kick and hand load before sending his hands on a flat path to contact with a high finish. In BP, shows a pull gap approach with some lift, mostly barrels, 84 mph exit velo. Ran a 4.59 home-to-first, but didn't get out of the box clean. Defensively, shows athletic and clean actions in the outfield. Throws with a short arm stroke coming through a high-¾ slot, 84 mph with some accuracy. 

WYATT OLDS RHP / MCLOUD , OK / 2018

The Oklahoma commit has a 6-foot-1, 170-pound lean and slender frame. Works from an average tempo delivery with athleticism, coiling at the top of his leg lift before striding to the dish. Arm action is long and behind him before coming through a side arm slot with whip. Fastball sits 90-92 mph, not reaching the 95 we have seen him at before, but keeping late and heavy arm-side run with some sink. Slider shows short 10/4 shape with some depth. Changeup sits 85-86 with some fade. Filled up the strike zone with all three pitches with consistency, showing his command is developing quickly. 

JAVIER RAMOS SS/RHP / VIAN, OK / 2018

The Missouri State commit has a physically impressive and still projectable 6-foot-6, 190-pound frame. Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a quiet and knock-kneed stance. Uses smooth rocking load before launching his hands on a slightly uphill path with a high finish. In BP, shows a middle to pull gap approach with occasional lift, mostly barrels, and shows some pop driving the ball to the center and pull side gap track multiple times and leave the yard a few times in his three rounds. Ran a 4.42 home-to-first. Defensively, his big arm across the diamond stands out throwing multiple 88s. May project best at third base, especially if he continues to grow into his big frame. On the mound, the long right-hander works from an average tempo delivery with rhythm. Arm drops straight down out of the break then circles with some length before coming through a high-3/4 slot with arm speed. Fastball sits 90-91 touching 92s and one scout had him up to 93, some strikes, some big misses. Slider shows 10/4 shape with some depth at 77-79 mph. Changeup is still developing, flashes arm-side run, 79-80 mph

JAKE RANDA OF / SHAWNEE MISSION EAST, KS / 2017

The Northwest Florida State player has a 6-foot, 180-pound frame with some strength throughout. Offensively, the left-handed hitter bats from an open and slightly knock-kneed set-up with rhythm in his hands. Uses a moderate leg kick and a late barrel tip, before launching his hands on a flat path to contact with hand speed and a high finish. In BP, shows elite barrel control with fast hands, barreling almost every ball with a flat and all field approach, driving balls from line to line, exit velo of 88. Ran a 4.64 home-to-first. Defensively, showed some arm strength from the outfield at 84 mph with accuracy, and moved with some athleticism at first base.

DAYNE SOMMER C / BOSWELL , OK / 2014

The Central Oklahoma grad stands 6-foot-2, 210-pounds with strength throughout.  Offensively, the right-handed hitter bats from a relaxed and upright stance with rhythm throughout. Uses a moderate strike and hand pump load before launching his bat on a flat path through extension. In BP, shows a flat gap-to-gap approach, mostly barrels, some pop, 92 mph exit velo.  Runs a 4.45 home-to-first. Defensively, is well advanced behind the dish with above average hands and feet to to along with high end arm strength, 83 mph, to produce showcase pop times of 1.88-2.09. 

GAYLON VINEY RHP / DEL CITY , OK / 2013

The Central Oklahoma grad has a 6-foot-3, 180-pound lean frame. The right-hander pitches from a high-energy and uptempo delivery with a short leg kick and quality leg drive down the mound. Arm action has some length in the back with a quick change of direction before coming through an over the top slot. Fastball keeps its plane at 87-89 mph. Two-seam is thrown at the same velo and flashes late arm-side run. Curveball has big 12/6 depth with some late action at 70-73 mph. Slider has short 10/4 shape at 74-77 mph. Both breaking balls thrown for strikes at the bottom of the zone. 

TERRY (TREY) WOLF RHP / BROKEN ARROW, OK / 2018

The Oral Roberts commit has a 6-foot-2, 220-pound thick frame. The right-hander works from an controlled delivery that he repeats well. Uses a big leg kick and coil at the top before gliding to the dish. Arm action is moderate and clean in the back coming through a high-¾ slot with hand speed. Fastball keeps its plane at 89-91 mph with a lot of 91s, mostly strikes. Slider has gradual break with 10/4 shape and some depth, mostly strikes. Changeup has some fade at 82-83 mph.
