Ohio Insider: Top 2017 Uncommitted Infielders

With the Summer season coming to an end and the 2016-2017 high school sports season as well as fall ball getting underway, we would like to take a look at some of the top uncommitted prospects at each position.

Today we are looking at the top uncommitted senior infielders in Ohio. We will look to create a few top uncommitted lists each week, as you can see by our 2017 Player Rankings there are numerous talented prospects available.

Samuel Frontino, NDCL
Ranked:
52nd in Ohio’s 2017 Class
Scouting Report: 5-foot-10, 160-pound athletic build. Had one of the more impressive performances of the event at the plate and did a great deal to improve his stock in general. At the plate he gets excellent use out of his body mechanically. The timing of his leg kick/bat tip load give him excellent separation between his upper and lower half clearing the way for his hands to go to work. Very good batspeed and strength for his size. Gets through the zone on a flat path and produced line drives all over the field during games. Has the look of a hitter you could put anywhere in the lineup. Was not retired in game play as he recorded a hit in all four of his at bats. Registered an exit velocity of 89 mph and ran a 6.89 60-yard dash. In the infield he has athletic actions with solid glove skills. Remains smooth on the move and showed quickness to his transfer. Showed off impressive, 87 mph arm strength across the infield. Has the tools to stay at the shortstop position with the arm to play third and the athleticism to play second. Very good player.
