Ohio Spotlight Game: #23 Massillon Washington vs #48 St. Ignatius

A pair of aces matched up yesterday as Massillon Washington and senior RHP Chris Machamer (Kentucky) bested St. Ignatius and junior LHP Connor Adams (Louisville); 2-0.

Junior CF Kordell Ford got things going for the Tigers as he lead off the game with a single up the middle. Junior C Vince Murray executed a sacrifice bunt moving Ford to second. A passed ball moved Ford to third base allowing Senior DH Jason Domro to lift a fly ball to center field for a sacrifice fly; scoring Ford.

The game immediately settled into a pitchers dual as each pitcher dominated the others line-up.

The only time the Wildcats got into scoring position was after a one out walk to senior right fielder Nick Freund and a sacrifice bunt by senior 2B Joe Evans. Machamer then proceeded to strike out the next batter on a called third strike to the outer-half of the plate.

Murray added an insurance run in the bottom of the 6th inning with a leadoff double; he then moved around the bases to score after a passed ball and scored on a throwing error on the catcher.

That was more than enough for Machamer who struck out 12 Wildcats while allowing only 3 hits and two walks. St. Ignatius senior DH George Asadorian got two of those hits with sharply hit singles.

Connor Adams was also impressive with 10 strikeouts against 4 hits and 2 walks.

Ford, Murray, Machamer, and senior Ethan Weinberg each got hits for Massillon, while Asadorian and senior catcher John Robinson hit safely for St. Ignatius.
