Oregon Summer Kickoff - Uncommitted '22s (Pt. 2)

Dan Jurik
Scouting Director - Pacific Northwest

Earlier this summer we kicked off our first series of events at Wilsonville HS.

Summer events events such as this provide players with the opportunity to build their profile with the most up-to-date information and video footage. All players in attendance receive an online profile with their verified statistics, player report, picture and video. Additionally, all subsequent stories written about a prospect will be linked to the player’s profile, ultimately creating a one-stop shop for recruiters.

Showcases help identify which prospects have asserted themselves towards the top of their class as well as who might be one of the next youngsters to emerge onto the scene. They also serve as potential identifiers for invite-only events such as our Future Games and Junior Future Games

We previously released the Statistical Leaders from our Oregon Summer Kickoff.

Now we're highlighting individual performers from the event. Here are 6 uncommitted prospects in the 2022 class...

OREGON SUMMER KICKOFF

UNCOMMITTED 2022'S

Caleb Kreitzer C / OF / Tualatin , OR / 2022

5-foot-10, 165 pounds with a square build to upper half a wiry frame. Sets up with a wide base & feet outside of shoulder width in the box. Tall, upright posture with direction towards pitcher. Barrel starts in a vertical position before adjusting with a quick scap load as he takes forward stride. Minimal weight shift. Stays in legs and lets ball travel to zone. Worked mostly middle of the field with a high, uphill path after contact. Barrel gets on-plane early & covers depth in the zone. Defensively, shows a low, one-knee set up when receiving. Glove hand works below the ball then comes up thru the catch. Adjusts positioning when throwing down to 2nd with a more traditional set-up and square posture. Showed a consistent exchange and chest height into throwing motion. High ¾ release with a tight arm path. Ball shows added carry when he gets backside into the throw.

Keanen Legg C / Tigard, OR / 2022

6-foot-2, 180 pounds with a developed lower half and proportional size. Offensively, stands with a tall, narrow set-up in the box. Front leg starts open. Creates some bat wiggle for rhythm prior to forward move. Hands stay below rear shoulder before initiating swing. Stays inside of the ball as he sits into his back hip and rotates into contact. Strong, posted front side helps create leverage at point of contact. Level finish with a line drive approach. Head stays quiet throughout. Defensively at C, showed some mobility with a one-knee down set-up while receiving. Able to keep core upright/tall while hips stay down. Consistent exchange actions at just below chest height. Glove side works towards target as he works to a ¾ release with short arm action.

Alexander Nisbet 1B / 3B / Cleveland , OR / 2022

6-foot, 180 pounds with added strength since the last time we saw him back in ‘19. Saw considerable jumps in some of his metrics, especially arm strength and exit velocity. At the plate, starts with an open, slightly crouched stance with some hip hinge at the waist. Closes off direction with a low, controlled stride. Hands work below shoulder line with a short, tight pull back to load. Uphill path led to consistent power in BP, especially to pull-side. Defensively, profiles well to 1B with his size and actions. Moves well around the bag with easy, controlled footwork and a deliberate tempo. Sinks hips down to the ball when funneling in. Lets it travel into his set-up and receives with a soft glove hand. Compact arm action with a ¾ release

Jacen Rademacher RHP / 3B / Clackamas, OR / 2022

5-foot-11, 220 pounds with a square shoulder line and strength in a stocky, durable lower half. Balanced, upright stance in the box with lower half just slightly open & tall posture. Bat starts at a vertical angle while hands just below rear shoulder. Uses a short, quick hand load to create some momentum prior to swing. Hands sync up with short forward stride as he lands in a balanced hitting base. Loose hands with whippy barrel action. Middle of the field type approach. Defensively, worked out in RF where size and actions profile well. Takes a steady, deliberate approach to the ball while keeping momentum behind his glove. Funnels out in front before getting into continuous arm action and high 3/4 release. At 3B, showed similar tempo and approach when fielding. Stays back as ball travels into set-up. Funnels in with quiet glove hand. Higher, shorter arm action with a more compact release than the OF. On the bump, pitches with a consistent tempo & pace. Works from the middle of the rubber. Stays tall at leg lift with some coil into his backside. Creates upward shoulder angle at hand break with a shorter stride into landing. Releases from a high, over the top slot. Creating downward angle & leverage when he gets to the bottom of the zone. Keeps eyes on target throughout and controls his body after release.

Keenan Sanford 3B / RHP / Wilsonville, OR / 2022

6-foot, 210 pounds with strength throughout the frame and a durable build. Similar set-up in the box to what we saw last summer, beginning with a narrow base and slightly open lower half. Loose, relaxed hands that sync up with leg lift during forward move. Creates separation into landing and gets into a wide hitting base. Swings with controlled intent. Barrel accelerates into the zone easily. Strong at point of contact. Mostly level follow through & full hip rotation. Has potential to create some lift when catching ball out front. Defensively, starts tall before getting into wide base with bend in lower half and upright core. Sits in stance and lets ball travel into his set up. Glove tap for rhythm as he gets into side shuffle and adjusts direction. Full arm path with ¾ release. On the mound, worked exclusively out of the stretch from the center of the rubber. Comes set with hands at chest height. Leg lift goes just  above waist height. Slight drop and drive action with rear leg. Shoulder line stays level during stride phase. Clean direction towards catcher at landing. Arm action gets extended then works short and quick out to ¾ release. Aggressive finish out front with backside coming thru.

Danny Womack SS / OF / Churchill , OR / 2022

5-foot-9, 150 pounds with an athletic build and wiry upper half. Starts with a square, balanced set-up in the box and direction towards pitcher. Upright posture with feet set at shoulder width. Takes a short, quick forward stride into landing as hands shift down and back to load. Weight stays centered at landing. Hand path stays inside the baseball and works to the middle of the field. Level finish thru contact. Posts up against strong front side with ‘scissor’ type action in his lower half. Smooth defender at SS with crisp, easy footwork. Moves very quick laterally and glides through the baseball. Exchanges ball at just below chest height with a glove-tap for tempo while gathering feet beneath him and adjusting towards target. Short, tight arm action from ¾ slot.
