PBR FL Limited Series: Preview No. 1

PBR Florida Stafff

In less than a week, PBR Florida will be hosting its first annual Limited Series tournament, held from June 1 through June 3. The Limited Series was created to give teams a platform to play in an exceedingly competitive atmosphere in a tournament setting that will allow their players greater visibility within a smaller setting, all at IMG Academy.

Each game will be thoroughly promoted and scouted by both the national and state directors on our PBR staff – and teams will play four games each at minimum. In an endeavor to establish more exposure for teams and players, our staff will provide roster packets and information for all attending college and professional scouts, as well as generate pre- and post-event content. And, as always, we’ll be updating our Scout Blog throughout the tournament where we will write reports on the participating players and overall game recaps.

Today, we’ll begin our pre-tournament coverage by highlighting some potential standouts in this group of six teams invited.

ELITE SQUAD 17U NATIONAL

The Elite Squad program has long been heralded for its assemblance of talent on the big stage and its 17U National team will be attending Limited Series full of next-level players. Tyler Callihan(Providence; South Carolina), Taylor Clapp (Park Vista; uncommitted), Timothy Manning (Cardinal Gibbons; Florida), Ray Torres (IMG Academy; Louisiana State), Jordan Carrion (American Heritage; Florida), and Gavin Casas (American Heritage; Vanderbilt) are a just a handful of names from this roster who will be heading to Limited Series. Callihan, Manning, Torres, Carrion, and Casas are all ranked within the top 50, nationally, within their respective classes. Casas, Carrion, and Manning are the three 2020s on this roster, the rest just wrapped up their junior seasons.

FTB ROCKETS 17U

The Jupiter-based Florida Travel Baseball, aka the FTB Rockets, will also be attending Limited Series with their loaded summer ball roster. Jack Keiser (The Benjamin School; uncommitted), Phillipe Roy(Dwyer; Virginia Commonwealth), and T.J. McKenzie (The Benjamin School; Vanderbilt) make up a few of the most notable inclusions on the Rockets’ roster. McKenzie is a nationally ranked 2019 who we haven’t seen in person since 2016. Gavin Mellians (Martin County) and Raheem Salmon (St. Thomas) are two Stetson commits who we’ll be seeing for the first time, too.

RAWLINGS STEALTH UNDERCLASS

Rawlings Stealth, out of Delray Beach, will be bringing its underclass team to Limited Series. And while it’s a relatively budding group, it’s still full of 2020s with talented and familiar players capable of reaching the next level – and plenty are already committed. Ryan Bruno (American Heritage; Stanford) is one of them, also ranked within the top-100 national prospects in his 2020 class. Carmine Lane and Bailey Uderitz are two more American Heritage products ranked in their state’s top-100 class and both are among the top uncommitted players on Stealth. Yet another American Heritage talent, Jacob Lojewski (Florida Gulf Coast), is a member of this roster ranked nationally. We’ll also be getting our first live look at Eddie Sierra (Southwest Miami; uncommitted). He’s ranked No. 61 on Florida’s overall board.

TEAM SKLZ

From St. Petersburg, Team SKLZ will be making its way to Bradenton next week, too. One of the members of their roster, Yazael Nunez (Lennard; Saint Leo), has been on our radar for awhile. The shortstop is ranked within Florida’s top-160 prospects in his 2019 class and stands out for his defensive abilities. Shemar Lawson (Hernando; uncommitted) is another name to keep an eye out for on SKLZ. Our staff saw the middle infielder last in 2016 and he showed some athletic traits and potential and we’re excited to how that’s progressed.

X-TEAM 2019

South Florida’s X Team is bringing with it some high-caliber 2019s. Liam Cogswell (Tulane) and Anthony Tomczak (Stetson) are two North Broward Prep players who will be attending. Cogswell is ranked in Florida’s top 100 for its 2019 class, and is the No. 15-ranked outfielder. Tomczak is a 6-foot-1 righty we’re looking forward to seeing on the mound again – our staff saw him last October. Logan Riedel (Westminster Academy) is a Miami recruit who our staff has not yet seen in person, giving X Team another interesting prospect on its roster.

CFL CITIUS 2020 NAVY

A team with a well-known reputation in Texas, is fairly new here in Florida. Citius will be sending two teams to the Limited Series: Navy and Red. The Navy team will be led by David Chapdelaine (Bishop Moore; uncommitted). The lanky third baseman stood out at tryouts in December with present pull power and offensive upside. Tommy Ramos (Hileah Gardens; uncommitted) is the lone 2021 on this Navy team, so it’ll be intriguing to see how he performs. There were a lot of talented players at the tryout in December, thus Citius’ Navy team is sure to have a solid group of young players.
