Today we released an updated version of Iowa Class of 2019 Rankings, expanding the list by 30 prospects to a top 150 overall. With an increase in ranked prospects in the state, there’s naturally going to be a group of names making their first-ever appearance on their state’s class rankings; along with considerable re-shuffling of prospects across the board.

Even though the shuffling has been slight in the Top 10; Wilton left-hander Jared Townsend moves up to #9 on the list. Townsend has considerable present strength through-out his frame and has shown increased pitchability on the mound; command the strike zone better than in the past. The University of Iowa commit shows arm strength with his fastball, typically in the upper 80's, and will periodically touch in the lower 90's with a developing breaking ball to match.

Making a monumental climb up the rankings was Carlisle's Isaiah Henrichs. The uncommitted left-hander, built similarly to Townsend, has a 3-pitch mix with solid command of the zone. His velocity and performances on the mound have been strong and consistent through the summer and into the fall; regularly throwing 84-87 mph.

Another prospect that leaped to the fore-front in the 2019 class is uncommitted outfielder Brook Heinen from Urbandale. Heinen attended the PBR IA Top Prospect Games in August; showing a complete package for his position with running ability, is above avg. defensively, and routinely squares baseballs with authority from a line drive approach.
