Semi-Finals

SBA Majors 8 vs 479 Elite 0

The SBA Majors cruised to victory over the 2016 12U Major State Champions 479 Elite. The Majors scored 8 runs on 7 hits, taking advantage of 4 errors and 6 walks by 479 Elite.

MIF/RHP Colten Sims led the way offensively for the Majors as he went 2 for 3 with a double, a triple a RBI and a run scored. INF/RHP Tyler Hipps, INF/RHP Cole Kitchens, INF/RHP Jordan Kelly, C Tripp Landers, and Cason Blunt chipped in with a hit a piece including a triple by Kelly.

On the mound the Majors used RHP/INF Cole Kitchens and OF/RHP Wade Farrish to complete the shut out. Kitchens pitch 3 1/3 innings allowing 3 hits while striking out 2. Farrish pitched the final 1 2/3 innings in relief allowing no hits.

479 Elite used some promising athletes on the mound with the combination of INF/RHP Ethan Fender, INF/RHP Clark Jenkins, and OF/RHP Drue McClendon 4 2/3 allowing just 4 earned runs. All three are solid athletes with upside.

Offensively INF/RHP Clark Jenkins, Brecklin Waters, and Milaki Cramer all had singles.

Triple Play Blacksox 5 vs Arkansas Prospects 1

The Triple Play Blacksox defeated the Arkansas Prospects 5-1, with a strong pitching performance, sound defense and timely hitting.

On the mound MIF/RHP Jackson Hutchens pitched 5 innings scattering 5 hits to allow just 1 run and struck out two hitters.

Offensively they were paced by C Mathew Naggleson, and Dakota Goble who both picked up 2 hits on the afternoon. Peyton McKee, Jordan Huskey, and Ethan Arnold all pitched in with a hit. Huskey had a big blow with an inside the park home run that he crushed hitting the ball 350 feet, he finished the game with three RBIs.

The Arkansas Prospects were led by Cade Altom as he went 2 for 2 with 2 singles and a stolen base. They also picked up production from Spencer Pepper, Turner Seelinger, and Max Miller. Miller scored the lone run.

Championship

Triple Play Blacksox 7 vs SBA Majors 0

The Triple Play Blacksox defeated the SBA Majors 7-0 in the Championship Game of the PBR Junior Futures Games Trials Tournament.

The Blacksox were led by LHP/CIF. Jordan Huskey both on the mound and at the plate. On the mound Huskey threw 5 shutout innings striking out 11 only allowing 2 hits. He dominated with his ability to locate an advanced fastball and solid breaking ball.

Huskey along with Cooper Smith had two hits to lead the Blacksox offensively. Smith was 2 for 3 with a 3B and a run scored. Huskey was 2 for 3 with 2 RBIs. Other contributors included Mathew Nagleson, and Caden Ross which both had singles.

The Majors were paced offensively by Peyton Nelson, Alan Farrish, and Cason Blunt who all singled in a tough match up against a quality pitcher.

Overall the Blacksox were dominant on the day going 4-0, outscoring their opponents 30-1. They have a solid pitching staff that commands the strike zone consistently, versatile athletes that play the game hard with sound fundamentals. Offensively they grind out at bats and have an advanced leadoff hitter in Johnathan Anderson and a solid middle of the order bat in Jordan Huskey.

This game featured advanced baseball players on both rosters, I expect this to be a common match up in Championship games for the remainder of the summer.
