On Sunday, March 12th, 2023 Prep Baseball Report Minnesota will be conducting its annual PBR MN Preseason ID-Twin Cities event at the Brooklyn Park Sports Dome in Brooklyn Park, MN.

Last year’s event, held at St. Michael-Albertville High School saw over 70 players between the grad classes of 2022 and 2025. Of those players who participated in the event, 16 went on to make commitments later in the calendar year. Most notably 2023 grad Mason Lang (Chanhassen), who went on to verbally commit to South Dakota State University.

This year’s Preseason ID-Twin Cities has two younger players to monitor in Stillwater’s 2024 grad Alex Boston and New London-Spicer’s 2024 grad Carson McCain.

Boston is currently ranked 48th in Minnesota’s 2024 class rankings. A two-way prospect that has made significant strides in his game both in the box and on the mound since being seen by the PBR staff. The right hander has a fastball that sits in the low 80s and at the plate shows a unique skill set of strength and speed with a 94.5 exit velocity and 6.92 60-yard dash time. What position he moves on to play at the next level is to be seen but we look forward to seeing what Boston can do on Sunday.

McCain, who put up impressive numbers last October at his club’s Minnesota Swat Scout Day is similar to Boston. A two-way player who possesses strength in the barrel with a 96.0 trackman exit velocity and also has a fastball that sits in the low 80s. At 5-foot-11 and 177lbs, the right handed throwing and right-handed hitting player is currently ranked 72nd in Minnesota’s 2024 grad class. McCain who comes from a smaller school, might be poised to make big noise on Sunday.

Players will also be evaluated and considered for updated player rankings and “Invite-Only” events. This showcase will be featured on the Prep Baseball Report's website, which is subscribed to by more than 900 college coaches.
