PBR New England Spotlight Game: Auburn vs Grafton

Auburn HS and Grafton HS battled all seven innings, with Grafton HS ultimately prevailing with a 7-5 victory.

Both Joe Gemelli (’18) and Conor Scully (’16) had trouble taming their opposing lineups.

Scully was chased from the game after allowing seven runs over four innings of work, however Auburn HS bats picked him up, rallying for three runs in the fifth to pull within two runs of Grafton HS.

Gemelli lasted five innings, allowing five runs, four of which were earned.

Auburn HS nearly completed the comeback in the top of the seventh.

Back-to-back walks put runners on first and second with no outs to begin the inning. After a failed bunt attempt that resulted in a strikeout, Auburn HS loaded the bases on a hit-by-pitch. Grafton HS managed to escape a tight spot by inducing a 1-2-3 double play to end the game.

Jackson Vail (’16) of Grafton HS lead the way with three hits, two RBIs, and two runs scored.

Cam O’Toole also helped pace Grafton HS, with two hits (double and triple), two RBIs, and one run scored.

Xander Lovvorn (’17) nearly homered to deep left-centerfield in the bottom of the fourth, which drove in a run and capped the six-run Grafton HS rally.
