PBR New England Spotlight Game: Braintree vs St. John's

In the game between the Braintree Wamps and the St. John’s Eagles, Braintree RHP Kyle Gray faced off against St. John’s LHP Jared Wetherbee.

Both pitchers started the game with 3 shutout innings before Braintree put some offense together in the top of the 4th with 2 walks, a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly before Wetherbee got out of the inning.

The eagles responded in the bottom half of the 4th with a leadoff double by second baseman David Turco followed by an RBI double by first baseman Sean Burke tying the game at 1.

From there, both pitchers continued to pound the zone allowing their defenses to make plays behind them. In the top of the 8th, Braintree scored 1 more run to make the score 2-1.

The Wamps closed the door on St. John’s winning the game by a score of 2-1.

Kyle Gray had a solid day on the mound recording 4 Ks in 6 innings of work. He relied heavily on his defense by pounding the zone and making the St. John’s hitters get themselves out.

Jared Wetherbee dominated the Wamps hitters throughout most of the game recording 13 Ks in 7 innings of work. He gave up just 2 earned runs in the outing giving his team a chance to win.
