PBR New England Spotlight Game: Plymouth North vs St. John's Prep

In the game between Plymouth North and St. John’s Prep, Plymouth North RHP Chris Murphy faced off against St. John’s Prep RHP Don Cohoon.

Plymouth North scored a run in the first two innings giving them an early lead but St. John’s Prep answered with 1 run in the bottom of the 3rd cutting their deficit to 1. In the top of the 5th,

Plymouth North added 1 to their lead making the score 3-1 through 5 innings. In the bottom of the 6th, St. John’s Prep answered with 2 runs to tie the game at 3.

No runs were scored in the next 3 innings sending the game into the 10th inning.

In the bottom of the 10th, St. John’s had runners on 1st and 2nd when Michael Yarin squared to sacrifice bunt. Plymouth North’s pitcher fielded the bunt and threw the ball into left field in attempt at getting the lead runner at 3rd which led to a St. John’s game-winning run.

Chris Murphy gave up a run in each of the first 2 innings and another in the 5th but was able to keep his team in the ballgame by throwing 6 innings and allowing only 3 runs total.

Don Cohoon pitched 6 innings giving up just 3 runs in the outing giving Plymouth North a chance to win.

With little offense from both teams, pitching and defense seemed to be the key to the game. Both teams had pitchers throwing strikes and their defenses backing them up which caused the low scoring extra inning win for St. John’s Prep.
