Southern Athletics Futures

Tristian Smith, Boiling Springs HS, 2022 (Uncommitted)

Projectable LHP with a high ceiling. High ¾ arm slot with late arm side life to FB. FB 85-88 T89, slider showed 2/8 break, potential + pitch with future development, SL 77-79. Evenly built frame with athletic lower half, will hold additional weight as development continues. Brother of Ashton Smith.

Ashton Smith, Boiling Springs HS, 2022 (Uncommitted)

Similar build with additional height and weight. Mechanics are clean with an arm that works at the top of the high ¾ slot. FB 80-83 T84 Body, arm speed, and mechanics lend to future velocity jump. 6’2” 205lb frame with athleticism. Brother to Tristian Smith.

David Lewis, Blue Ridge HS, 2021 (Uncommitted)

Athletic build with thick lower half. Corner IF showed good footwork at 3rd and confident hands. Arm strength will need to improve to reach maximum potential. Simplistic approach at the plate allows him to be on time for multiple velocities. Showed good power driving balls to both gaps.

Tarrence Gist, Greenville HS, 2021 (Uncommitted)

Powerful OF with good speed. Above average bat speed and a compact swing path. Combines a rare mixture of power and speed. Potential to hit for power in addition to stealing bases as development continues.

Cooper Ingles, AC Reynolds (NC), 2021 (Uncommitted)

1.92 – 1.98 pop times with + catch/throw ability. LHH catcher with good strike zone discipline and bat to ball skills.

Diamond Devils 16u Blue

Tyler Teal, Chapin HS, 2020 (Uncommitted)

LHH OF/1B athletic build with potential for future physical development. Showed an advanced approach at the plate from the left side finding the barrel on multiple pitch types. Soft stride allows his powerful lower half to work the barrel onto plane and keep his head quiet.

Ashby Vining, Gilbert HS, 2021 (Uncommitted)

2.08 – 2.15 pop times, physical frame with strong lower half.

Ryan Deal, Rock Hill, 2021 (Uncommitted)

Compact athletic frame that produces a low line drive bat path. 4.45 home to first on a single. Smooth actions at 2B with good footwork.

Chris Veach, Chapin, 2020 (Uncommitted)

SS with slender frame will allow for future player development. Good hands and footwork from the SS position. Ranged to make several plays and showed good arm strength. Size and frame suggest arm strength will continue to develop. Offensive approach is advanced, showed awareness of the strike zone and good bat to ball skills.

Matthew Becker, Chapin, 2021 (Uncommitted)

1B/OF with length and projection. Attack angle will allow for increased power as he develops physically.

BLUE CHIP BULLS

Jarrett Oakes, Crescent HS, 2019 (Uncommitted)

LHP with compact frame, FB showed fade to the arm side. FB 80-81 T82, BB 68-69 w/ loose rotation and tilt. LHH with an inside out approach. + speed is his best tool, showed ability to run that will translate to the next level. Multiple stolen bases in various counts.

Will McClellan, Crescent HS, 2021 (Uncommitted)

Good frame and actions catching multiples pitch types in various locations. Showed good read & react ability on balls in the dirt. Arm strength and glove to hand transfer should improve with additional development. 2.13-2.25 on POP times. Simple offensive approach, could develop additional power based on bat path.

AMERICAN LEGION JR/SR

TT Kershaw, Union HS, 2019 (Uncommitted)

Post 22 CF showed + speed as a next level tool. Tracked several deep fly balls into the gaps to take away extra base hits, recorded a 4.34 home/first on a BFH.
