We take a look at some scout blogs form the PBR South Carolina Summer Championships 17U and 16U in beautiful Charleston SC hosted at The Shipyard.  This event took place the weekend of 6/8/2023 - 6/11/2023 and was limited to 27 teams from the top organizations from up and down the East Coast.

T24 Gamecocks vs 5 Star

Tj McCluney, T24

McCluney started his weekend off hot with a roped single up the middle to get it going for Team24.  This single comes along with an RBI double later in the game.  Tj suited up behind the dish for today's game and put on a show, blocking almost every ball in sight.  Plus defender with more to come.

Anthony Marano, T24

Marano was another T24 Player that was on fire today going 2-3.  Quick twitchy swing where he keeps his bat head through the zone for a long time.  Power is present for the youngin.  Anthony played short in the game and has plus arm strength throwing across the diamond. 

Colton Earnhardt, 5 Star

Earnhardt was by far the best player in today’s game from both sides.  The 5 Star SS went 3-4 with 3 runs, and an RBI in the game.  Huge bat for 5 Star with lots of power in his swing.  Earnhardt is explosive and also has plus defense.  Earnhardt is one to watch in the rest of the tournament for 5 Star.

Joey McGovern, 5 Star

McGovern had an absolute day on the bump and at the dish.  At the dish Joey went 2-2 with 4 RBI’s and 2 runs scored.  Power is huge for McGovern and will only continue to get better.  On the bump McGovern came in relief and threw 2 ⅓ no hit innings to shut down the Gamecock Offense. 


White Sox South vs Rays Scoutz

Matthew Rollison, White Sox South

Rollison was one of 2 White Sox players with a multi hit game. With 2 singles on the day Rollison pounded the ball all day.  Putting the ball in play every at bat, Rollison showed good discipline at the plate.

Miles Goodwater, White Sox South

Goodwater was the other White Sox player with a multi hit game.  Goodwater got a good piece of one in the 2nd inning here at College of Charleston and shot it back up the middle, almost squaring up Rays pitcher Robbie Wattie.  Shows good athleticism in the box. 

Chone James, Rays Scoutz

James impressed in this game with 2 smoked balls on the day.  Both of James' balls were EV of 93+ on trackman.  UVA commit showed lots of power in his swing along with being short to the ball and keeping his bat head in the zone.  DH for this game but got the pleasure of watching him catch the Rays second game of the day and Chone has ++ arm with amazing defense behind the dish.  

Robbie Wattie, Rays Scoutz

Wattie impressed big time in this game for Rays Scoutz on the bump.  Wattie went 5 ⅔ scoreless innings with 7 strikeouts.  Running his fastball up to 80 and his breaking ball in the low 70’s.  Wattie shut down the White Sox offense to lead the Rays Scoutz to 5-0 victory.



Pauer vs Rays Scoutz

Cody Brandt, Rays Scoutz

Brandt was by far the best player in this game going 3-3 with a huge triple over the centerfielder to start the game off and a double to add on to that.  Brandt’s power shows big time and will only continue to grow.  LHH who shows good bat speed in the leadoff spot.  

Rocco Wojcik, Rays Scoutz

Huge LHH for the Rays Scoutz team.  Wojcik sprayed the ball during his second game of the day.  Rocco has lots of power on the left side to go along with lots of athleticism.  The LHH has good barrel control and gets it done in the box.  ++ Speed and very good defense goes along with this star LHH. 

Asa Dunlevey, Pauer

Dunlevey had a big game for Pauer Baseball.  He started off the game with a sac fly to get the runs going.  Later on in the game Dunlevey shot a ball deep into the right field gap for a huge RBI triple to bring Pauer within 1.  Dunlevey has a tall, lean frame and has lots of power.  Going to be a good watch for the rest of this weekend's tournament.

Brandon Cokeley, Pauer

Cokeley gave Pauer the only other RBI of the game.  Coming to the box late in the game with a close one, Cokeley put a line drive to center field to knock in the tying run.  Brandon then ends up coming around all bases and stealing home to put Pauer up 5-4 late in the game.  Cokeley is a competitor and will continue to help this Pauer Baseball squad.

Prime Mt West vs Athletes Lab

Elam Parises, Prime Mt West

Parises Impressed big in today's game for USA Prime Mt. West, going 3-3 with an RBI.  With his clear middle middle approach Elam put all 3 of his hits back up the middle with one of those being for an RBI.  Parises was by far the best player in today's game, keep watch on him for the rest of this weekend's tournament.

Spencer Groves, Prime Mt West

Groves was the starter from this USA Prime Mt. West team. He came ready to face a strong Athletes Lab lineup.  The 6’ Righty threw 3 ⅓ of scoreless baseball.  Striking out 2 Groves gave it his all and ran it all the way up to 82.  Breaking ball had great movement and kept it that way all game. 

Sean Jenkins, Athletes Lab

Jenkins is 1 of 2 pitchers for Athletes lab that impressed today.  Jenkins sat 90-91 and every ran the fastball up to 92.  Slider had a really good bite and ranged from 74-77.  Athletes Lab has a good squad worth of arms, with Jenkins being one of the front runners. 

Barrett Erwin, Athletes Lab

Erwin came to play!  Barrett threw 3 scoreless 1 hit innings with the only hit coming after 2 ⅔ pitched innings.  Erwin ran it up to 80 from the left side and blew it past them.  Breaking ball came in the high 60’s and had good movement.  

 

GA Select vs USA Prime SC

Cole Crawford, GA Select

Crawford showed out in today's game going 2-4 with a huge double to left field.  Cole came to hit and he did so, putting all balls in play and hard at that.  + power to go along with good discipline at the plate, Crawford put it all together in both of their games i got to watch today.  

Grant Blalock, GA Select

Blalock had a good day at the plate going 2-3 with an RBI to help the Georgia Select top USA Prime SC.  Grant showed very good barrel control while keeping it in the zone for a good length of time.  Blalock drove in 1 of 3 RBI on the day for the Select.  Blalock made a huge diving catch in right field early in the game also. 

Cade Gardner, USA Prime SC 2-3

Gardner helped out a good USA Prime team at the plate big today.  Going 2-3 Gardner got it going multiple times throughout the game.  Gardner had a very discipline approach and good power.  Gardner had his eyes set at middle middle all game and his swing reflected.

Gavin Hug, USA Prime SC 2-3 rbi

Hug had a big game for USA Prime today going 2-3.  In his at bats Hug showed a fierce look and very athletic frame.  The 6’ 180lb catcher gave us a show and everyone enjoyed it.  Hug gave it his all on the field both offensive and defensive.  Defensively Hug has plus arm strength and will continue to get better.


GA Select vs Power 

Clark Kinney, Power

Kinney showed up to play and he did that for Power in today’s game. Kinney mashed ball after ball in all at bats, regardless of the outcome.  Showing lots of power offensively, the 5’10 180lb third baseman had a more stellar performance on defense smothering all balls that came his way.  Kinney is a big watch for the rest of this weekend's tournament. 

Messiah Bacon, GA Select

Bacon is an absolute leader for this GA Select team.  Messiah drove balls all over the field today at College of Charleston.  Lots of power in his swing.  Very twitchy, athletic movements both in his swing and defensively.  Defensively Bacon kept everything in front of him and showed very good arm strength.

Ian Vickers, GA Select

Vickers started for GA Select and slung it.  Vickers dominated the zone early and throughout his appearance.  Vickers sat 85-86 and ran it all the way up to 89.  Breaking ball looked very good and had great movement, coming in low to mid 70’s.  Change up also looked nice and used it often.  


Power vs Bodyshop

Cole Greer, Power

Greer showed up as usual.  Throwing 3 scoreless innings Greer sat 87-89 with his fastball and got it all the way up to 91.  Cole threw absolute hammers ranging from 76-77 and pounded the zone with strikes.  Striking out 4 Greer had control of the game when on the mound picking up a big win for the Power Baseball squad.

Porter Dykes, Power

Dykes had a great game for power baseball.  Dykes has a quick swing but knows how to keep his barrel going.  Going 2-3, Dykes powdered balls in his at bats, both being EV of 85+.  Porter came in late in the bottom of the 7th for power and shut down a very good bodyshop lineup. 

Gabriel Dotterweich, Bodyshop

Dotterweich was the starter for body shop in today's game and we know why the coach gave him the rock.  Going 4 ⅓ innings Dotterweich gave up 5 hits but only 1 run.  Gabriel pounded the zone and had a good feel for his offspeed pitches.  

Ryder Kellis, Bodyshop

Kellis Impressed big time in this game both offensively and defensively.  At the dish Kellis took hacks!  Looking at his game stats with not much to come from those at bats going 0-1 with 2 BB, but Kellis took control of the box.  Defensively arguably you could say he was the best by far in this game saving multiple balls that were smoked at him at third base.  ++ Arm strength and another one to watch as the weekend goes on.  


Bodyshop vs Athletes Lab

Oakley Aguilar, Bodyshop

Aguilar showed power from both sides of the plate.  Switch hitting throughout both games seen today, Aguilar swings it well from both.  In this game particularly Aguilar hit from the left side and showed lots of lift off the barrel.  Squaring up ball after ball, regardless of outcome Oakley put on a barrel show. 

Myles Proffitt, Bodyshop

Proffitt showed lots of potential throughout today’s game.  Launching a triple late in the game today right past the right fielder.  Showed true power launching a few long foul balls also throughout the day.  

Trey Spees, Athletes Lab

Spees came to the ballpark ready to hit.  Going 2-3 on the day with 2 singles, Spees swung it well.  Trey Sprayed the ball pull side along with backside one of each.  Defensively Spees kept a few hard hit balls at him in front and threw it across the diamond with absolute authority. + Arm strength.

Carson Dahle, Athletes Lab

Dahle was the starter for Athletes Lab today and got it done.  Running fastball up to the mid 80’s and was electric with his offspeed.  Only giving up 2 hits, Dahle commanded the zone all day giving him 7 strikeouts in the game.  Very good arm and will continue to get better as the summer goes on.

 

4G3 vs Precision

Peyton Mccollum, 4G3

Mccollum was the starter in today's contest for 4G3 and showed dominance on the mound.  Got rattled early in the first but began to set in and pound the zone strike after strike.  Fastball running up to 79, and breaking ball in the low 60’s. 

Hueston Gorham, 4G3

Gorham played a good game behind the dish for 4G3.  The tall, lengthy catcher has very good skill and a plus arm back there.  Gorham was a wall all game.  Offensively, Gorham had a very good stroke and hit a few hard balls, including a very hard ball to the second baseman.

Ethan Medhus, Precision

Ethan Medhus had a day at the plate today.  Medhus put the ball in play almost every at bat and continued to play good ball.  The second baseman showed a good stroke in the box and in the leadoff spot for Precision.  Middle middle approach all game and it showed throughout. 

Cris Chance, Precision

Chance is a big power bat for Precision in the box, shown in game with some very hard hit balls.  Chance has a big presence and large frame and swung it well.  Chance kept the bat head in the zone and loaded and exploded on balls.  Good power bat to watch as the tournament goes on.


5 Star vs Mavs 16u

Greyson Crawford, 5 Star

Crawford’s bat was fantastic for 5 Star in today's game.  Greyson launched a missile into right field for a backside triple to collect 3 RBi’s.  Crawford showed lots of power in his swing and barreled the ball well.  

Jake Cackovic, 5 Star

Cackovic is one of the better arms I have seen in this weekend's tournament.  Jake ran his fastball up to 87 and pounded the zone all game.  Cackovic threw 6 scoreless innings and dominated on the bump.  Very good arm and look forward to seeing more out of Cackovic in the future. 

JR Sanders, Mavs

Jr came in relief for the Mavs in a blowout game.  Sanders came in and shut down the very hot at the time 5 star offense.  The southpaw stayed consistent in the zone all game and got it done for the Mavs.  The Lefty sat low 60’s with a loopy breaker to go with it. 

Ryan Owens, Mavs 

Owens had a good steady bat in today's game against 5 Star Carolina.  Going 2-2 with 2 hard singles, Owens dominated in the box.  Good feel for the bat head Ryan got it going for the mavs in multiple innings of play.  




Precision vs Mavs 17u

Messiah White, Precision

White had a very impressive day at the plate today.  If you look at the stats you may disagree because he went 0-2 with 2 ks, but he battled at the dish all day.  Messiah had multiple foul balls put off the wall in left field and had a great 2 strike approach.  With his determination, he will find holes eventually and it's going to be a ball game when he does.

Jack Ewell, Precision

Ewell had a very good approach to today's game in the box.  The clear middle backside approach made his swings very good today.  Jack went 1-2 with a big triple over the centerfielder's head for what soon became the game's first run.  

Owen Reeves, Mavs 

Owen Reeves showed off true power in today's game.  Reeves launched a ball to the deepest part of the ballpark for a ground rule double. Reeves was very consistent at the plate and showed true dominance in the box each at bat regardless of result. 

Eli Stone, Mavs

Stone had a very good day at the plate.  Eli went 2-2 with a BB and a few runs.  The mavs center fielder showed off lots of speed both offensively and defensively swiping a few bags and also tracking down multiple balls in the outfield.

Prime vs Bodyshop 16u

Dalton Bisbono, Bodyshop

Bisbono showed true dominance on the mound today for bodyshop baseball. The southpaw threw 5 amazing 1 hit scoreless innings.  The College of Charleston Commit sat from 85-86 all game and ran the fastball all the way up to 88.  Breaker looked very appealing and had alot of bite. Very impressed with the performance from Bisbono.

Ryan Whitley, Prime

Whiteley was the other starter in this game and performed on a high level also.  Ryan was consistently in the zone all game and competed.  Sitting 83-84, The righty showed great tempo and got 7 k’s out of his quick work.  

Lee Johnson, Prime

Lee Johnson had by far the biggest hit of the game.  In the 2nd inning Johnson got it started for the Prime team with a loud double that bounced over the left field fence here at College of Charleston.  Lee has lots of power in his twitchy swing and will continue to gain more.



Power 2025 vs Athletes Lab

JT Smith, Athletes Lab

JT Smith had himself a game all around today.  The right handed catcher powdered the ball all over the field today.  Going 2-3 and reaching base all 3 times, JT hit the ball hard and often.  Defensively Smith is a wall 24/7.  With plus arm strength and very good receiving, Smith has a bright future as a catcher. 

Cooper Coleman, Power

Cooper got tha start for the Power baseball 2025 squad in today's game.  Running the fastball up to 84, Coleman showed competitiveness on the bump.  Lots of emotion running through this kids system, he racked up 6 k’s on a complete game. 

Jake McCracken, Power

McCracken produced lots of power for the crowd in tonight's game.  Jake launched a missile into center field for a triple to get power baseball going late in the game.  McCracken has lots of potential with his powerful swing. Large frame, very athletic and has lots of room to grow.  Look forward to see more of McCracken in the future.
