PBR Spotlight Game: #10 Lakewood St. Edward vs #13 Cleveland St. Ignatius

In Division I action the No. 10 ranked St. Edward Eagles (8-2) got a big performance from starter, Jaret Edwards (St. Edward, 2016) going 5.2 innings while only allowing one run against a good offensive No. 13 ranked St. Ignatius Wildcats (9-4) team.

It was the story of the big third inning for St. Edward when they put up a total of seven runs. It was just one of those innings where everything that could go wrong for St. Ignatius did go wrong.

A single up the middle from designated hitter Kevin Finzer (St. Edward, 2017) and a bunt single from left-fielder Darien Knowles (St. Edward, 2015) got the inning going. St. Edward would then take three consecutive walks. Back-to-back RBI singles from center-fielder Kyle Hegedus (St. Edward, 2015) and first-baseman Kevin Ruffing (St. Edward, 2016) later on in the inning would give St. Edward’s the seven runs.

RHP Garett Zorb (St. Edward, 2015) would come in to close the door down for the final inning and one-third. One run is what the St. Ignatius offense could come up with in the game.

The final score would be St. Edward 9, St. Ignatius 1.
