BRECKSVILLE, OH- No. 26 Wadsworth traveled north to play No. 4 Brecksville-Broadview Heights in a tune-up game before tournament play starts later this week

It appeared that both coaches were using the game to get their pitching staff some work and set their rotations moving forward.

Wadsworth prevailed with an 8-0 win that was not indicative of the strength of both teams.

The Grizzlies scored seven runs in the top of the second inning and that was all the excitement for the game though they added a lone run in the top of the sixth inning.

Wadsworth used four pitchers in a planned rotation while BBHS used five pitchers.

Wadsworth’s senior right-hander Jeff Stover went the first four allowing one hit while striking out two and walking one batter.  Senior right-hander Chris Joyce finished the game for the Grizzlies getting a strikeout and a 4-6-3 double play after a walk to lead off the bottom of the seventh inning.

Junior right-hander Perry Dellavalle pitched to three batters in the fifth for BBHS, striking out two.

He was followed two innings later in the seventh by big junior right-hander Josh Armbruster, who also struck out two of the three batters he faced.

The Wadsworth offensive attack was led by seniors Jack Pecnik, Kyle Karaffa, Conner Van Fleet and junior Aden Campbell, all with two hits apiece.  Seniors Brad Shieman and Nate Jones added RBI doubles in the big 7-run second inning.

Wadsworth is now 20-4 while Brecksville-Broadview Heights fell to 24-2.
