PBR Spotlight Game: No. 5 Wauseon vs. No. 25 Bryan

Bryan - For 41 games in a row, five years straight, Bryan (No. 25 Division II) has dominated the Northwest Ohio Athletic League. On Monday Wauseon (No. 5 Division II) broke that streak in dominating fashion. The Indians run-ruled the Golden Bears 11-1 in five innings.

The Indians got on the board first with one-out walks to senior Collin Bzovi and Suntken igniting a two-run first inning with Bzovi scoring on an errant pick-off throw to first and Josh Cales, University of Toledo recruit, driving in Suntken with a single.

Jake Trejo's dominating performance

Bryan countered with one run in the bottom of the first when Collin Bacon hit a triple and came home on aWauseon error. But that was all the Bears could get off of Jake Trejo, a South Carolina Sumpter recruit. Trejo went the distance on the mound allowing just one run on three hits while striking out five. The righty pounded the zone with a running fastball while mixing in quality off-speed pitches to keep the opposing hitters off balance.

Wauseon added four runs in the second to take control, capitalizing on a Bryan error and capped off by a two-run bloop single by Axel Bueter and an RBI single by Clay Tefft, removing Bryan starting pitcher Blake Kuszmaul, Owens CC recruit.

In the third inning, the Indians broke the game wide open scoring five more runs. Senior second baseman Dugan Shadbolt started the inning off with a double and an error followed. Trejo then blasted an RBI double. After another pitching change and a hit-by-pitch, Suntken, a talented junior who will be participating in the Top Prospect Games, sat on a first-pitch fastball, blasting the ball over the LF fence for a grand slam expanding the Indians lead to 11-1.
