While our staff has long known 1B/RHP Zach Wolfram (Menomonee Falls, 2023) as a talented arm inside the state’s now senior class, but during the first two weeks his bat was on fire for his Menomonee Falls squad and has earned our Weeks 1 & 2 ‘Player of the Week’ honors because of it.

Wolfram has been a staple both at the plate and on the mound for Menomonee Falls for each of their last couple state runs and with them off to a perfect 4-0 start their eyes are set on doing it again. In their first game of the season, Wolfram may have had one of the top single game performances our staff has seen in this young season as he went a perfect 3-for-3 and was just a single short of hitting for the cycle, and he finished the day with a whopping six RBIs.

While games two and three weren’t as eye-popping as game one, Wolfram still tallied a single and a double, while also driving in two runs, en route to two more dominant wins for the Phoenix. In Menomonee Falls' fourth game in the two week span, Wolfram put together yet another impressive offensive outburst. In Saturday’s matchup with West Bend West Wolfram exploded for 4-for-4 day, which included a single, double, and a three-run home run, and he finished the day with five-RBIs.

Menomonee Falls has been one of the lucky teams that already has four games under belt, and have started their season off with a spotless 4-0 record, with all their wins coming in convincing fashion. Wolfram has been a huge part of that, with an OBP of .750, an OPS of 2.228 and a combined 13 RBIs. While he did win weeks 1 and 2 ‘Player of the Week’ honors for his offensive firepower alone, it is worth mentioning that he has also been a key piece to the Phoenix pitching staff as well, as he has allowed just one run across his 12 innings pitched, and has also tallied 12 strikeouts.

Now with his senior season officially underway, Wolfram has entered the spring with a full head of steam and is looking to lead our preseason No. 17 team, Menomonee Falls, to yet another deep run in the playoffs.

For his efforts, Wolfram has been named the PBR Wisconsin Player of the Week, for the first and second week of WIAA action, ranging from Tuesday, March 28 to Sunday, April 8. We're thankful for the POTW submissions we received from the coaches across the state. The players who garnered POTW consideration will earn a place within Friday's Diamond Notes story, so be on the lookout for that by the end of this week.
