PBR Alabama Staff

ALBERTVILLE, AL - The PBRT Alabama Open wrapped up play with bracket play and some consolation games on Sunday in Albertville, AL at the state-of-the-art Sand Mountain Sports Complex, which features four artificial-turf fields. It was another picture-perfect day of baseball with great weather for the final day of play over the two age divisions (15U & 17U). Our scouts were on hand for all games played, and there were plenty of standout performances throughout the day, both at the plate and on the mound. Teams and players were well-represented throughout the southeast part of the country, making for a perfect day of baseball.

Day 3 Standouts

James Lucas C / 3B / Vestavia Hills, AL / 2025

+ C James Lucas (Excel Baseball, 2025) enjoyed a stellar tournament all weekend long and was a driving force hitting in the heart of the Excel lineup. Listed at 5-foot-10, 195-pounds, the rising junior was an extra-base hit machine driving balls to all parts of the field, including a mammoth three-run home run over the wall in left field at the stadium giving his team an early lead in the 17U Championship. The right-hander is built like a prototypical catcher with proportional strength throughout his frame, and possesses plenty of thunder off of his barrel. One to follow in the rising sophomore class in AL.

Brodie Jones SS / Opelika, AL / 2025

+ SS Brodie Jones (Alabama Raiders, 2025) continued to produce playing against quality competition this weekend after enjoying a solid spring starting at shortstop and hitting near the top of the order for the 7A Bulldogs. Listed at 6-foot-0, 165-pounds, the rising junior is wiry athlete and possesses solid skills both at the plate and up the middle defensively. Jones can really hit and collected numerous hits throughout the weekend hitting in the two-hole while showcasing quick hands that helps lead an accurate barrel through the zone. He is a solid defender at the shortstop position, and has enough arm strength to stick on the left side of the infield.

Milo Obradovich C / OF / Northridge, AL / 2024

+ C/OF Milo Obradovich (Excel Baseball, 2024) has really gotten off to a good start to begin his summer with Excel and was a key component that led to their 17U Championship in the tournament. Listed at 5-foot-11, 165-pounds, the uncommitted rising senior has some lean strength throughout his frame and is a solid athlete, as well. After being a top performer at the Excel Scout Day a couple weeks ago, Obradovich once again performed at a high level this weekend with multiple hits in the leadoff spot. He has a good feel to hit and possesses gap-to-gap pop from the right side of the plate. Versatile defender that is a high-follow in terms of uncommitted rising seniors in AL.

Landen Douglass C / 3B / Mobile Christian, AL / 2026

+ C/3B Landen Douglass (Gulf Coast Bay Bears, 2026) was an underclassmen who had a strong showing with the bat this weekend and caught the eyes of our scout on Day 3 in Albertville as he helped his team to the 15U Championship game. Douglass swings it well from the left side of the dish, has a short and compact stroke and seems to constantly find the barrel. Had a home run during game play on the final day of the tournament and also had a clutch at-bat late in their semi-final matchup as they were up a run with two runners in scoring position. Got a pitch over the heart of the plate and laced a sharply hit single back up the middle of the field that would bring home a pair of insurance runs for them in the sixth. Another solid upcoming sophomore in the 2026 Class.

Paxton Stallings 3B / RHP / Chelsea, AL / 2025

+ 3B/RHP Paxton Stallings (Excel Baseball, 2025) was one of a handful of Excel players who had a strong showing at the plate this weekend and on the final day of the PBRT AL Open in route to their 17U Championship Game appearance. Stallings had a few barrels early, throughout the day as he shows a relaxed look in the box from the right side, has a quiet load and a short, simple stride. Takes aggressive cuts and is explosive through contact. Jumped all over a two-strike offering on Sunday and laced a two-RBI double into left center. Athletic and leaner frame to the 5-foot-11, 155-pounder, has plenty of upside to the body with additional room to gain more size and strength throughout.

Henry Thomas Blanke LHP / Florence , AL / 2025

+ LHP Henry Thomas Blanke (Black Sox Baseball, 2025) is an upcoming junior arm who bounced back well on Day 3 after throwing earlier in the tournament. Blanke is a 6-foot-1, 185-pound athletic southpaw with a smooth delivery. With a fastball sitting at around 79-80 mph, Blanke used it well locating to both sides of the plate while mixing in a solid arsenal of off-speed pitches including a breaking ball and a changeup. The lefty also swings it well with the ability to steal bases. Blanke will definitely be a two-way player to follow for the next couple of years.

+ 3B Parker Minnix (Mission Baseball, 2023) showed the look of a power-hitting corner infielder slated in the heart of the order for Mission Baseball, and enjoyed a strong tournament throughout the weekend with a few barrels. Listed at 6-foot-1, 190-pounds, the right-hander has a mostly level path through the zone and uses quick hands to generate firm contact to the pull-side. He possesses a gap-to-gap approach and got off a quality swing during their semifinal matchup with a well-struck single through the left side of the infield. He is a solid uncommitted prospect in the senior class in TN.

+ 3B/RHP Sam Laney (Beehive Scout, 2026) made a huge impact on both sides for Beehive Scout and helped lead them to a 15U Championship on the weekend. Whether it was tossing a quality outing in the championship game on the mound or blast four home runs on the weekend, the rising sophomore had a stellar weekend in both facets. Listed at 6-foot-1, 180-pounds, the right-hander has a frame that is sure to carry much more strength down the road and already has solid skills in everything that he does. From the right side of the plate, Laney has a quick barrel through the zone that hits for power and can also run his fastball up to 80 mph on the mound with a good feel for a slider.
