Player Spotlight: Alex DeBey (Blue Valley, 2016)

Alex DeBey (Blue Valley, 2016) is a right-handed pitcher that stands 6-foot-5 180-pounds.  He was recently named Kansas Class 6 All-State as a closer. 

DeBey is physically maturing and showing a increase in velo this spring.  In 28 innings pitched he allowed no earned runs and led the Tigers to a an appearance in the semifinals of the state tournament. 

DeBey throws on a down hill plane, with smooth rhythm and flow.  He has an over the top release,  throws strikes and repeats release point.  He has a projectable pitchers build with clean arm action.  He shows 12-to-6 shape on breaking ball, locating down in zone, with fastball arm speed.

Currently, DeBey is taking visits playing for Mac N Seitz this summer. Here is a look inside the recruitment of Alex Debey.

PBR: Have you taken any visits, or have any visits scheduled in the near future? If so, what schools, and how recently?

DeBey: Made a few visits last Fall.  No future visits scheduled.

PBR: Are you looking for anything in particular in a school? (Example: high academics, certain academic program, local, etc.)

DeBey: Good business program and good baseball program where I can improve in the classroom and on the field.

PBR: How did you do your senior year? What were your high school statistics? And how did your team do?

DeBey: My senior year was a great year.  Our team went 21-3 and finished 3rd in the state.

On the mound I gave up one earned run in 28 innings with 28 strike outs and only seven walks.  Was named first team all-state in 6A ( large class ) and first team all conference in the EKL.

PBR: What are you goals for this summer?

DeBey: Get stronger to grow into my frame.  Work with my pitching coach on improving my mechanics.

PBR: What travel team do you play for?

DeBey: Mac N Seitz

PBR: Do you play any other sports?

DeBey: Basketball.  Second team all conference

PBR: What are your ACT and GPA?

DeBey: I have a 23 on the ACT and a 3.4 GPA.
