Kevin Escalona, 3B, S/R, Seymour HS, 2016escalona

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound prospect shows athleticism and versatility in his game as he impressed at the recent Fall Top Prospect Games at Lipscomb University where he made waves with his defensive and offensive skills.

Defensively, Escalona is a naturally instinctive fielder with above average hands and a quick, clean transfer.  He shows good lateral movement and body control while displaying an accurate arm across the diamond at 77 mph.

The switch hitter appeared slightly more comfortable from the left side where he has good balance and lower half usage but also squared the ball from the right side in batting practice as well.   He posted a 4.43 home to first time from the left side with a top exit velocity of 82 mph off the tee.

Escalona has established a good foundation with some room to improve his arm strength moving forward to play the hot corner at the next level.  His ability to hit from both sides of the plate make him a very intriguing prospect.  He has certainly established himself as a player to keep a close eye on as he heads towards his junior season.
