Scouting Report On Henshaw

Mitchell Henshaw C/SS (Brockport HS, NY 2016)

Henshaw stands 5-foot-11 160-pounds and has a project-able frame. At the plate he starts with his front foot open but athletic with a stride as we swings. His swing path is level with good extension after contact and a high finish. He rolls a little on his front foot affecting his balance. His exit velocity was 83 mph. Catching his pop time was a 2.06 with a 76 mph arm. At SS he gets behind the ball and fields out in front of his body nice. His release and arm are a big long and he needs to shorten that up.

Analysis
Henshaw has the body type to develop into a stud catcher. He plays both catcher and MIF now but I see him really developing behind the dish and becoming a sub 2.0 thrower to second base. He has a 2.06 pop time and good footwork, I know with some strength and growth he will only get better. With the bat hes sound and gets plus extension and shows solid consistent hard contact. If he not on the radar yet, after Aug 16th he will be at our NYS Top Prospect Games.
