Pre Season Preview - North Valleys Panthers

Buddy Gouldsmith
Nevada Scouting Director

The North Valleys Panthers will be playing in a new classification for the 2019 season.  The Panthers drop down to the 3A level this season and they can be expected to immediately compete at a high level in their new division.  The move alone offers a beacon of hope after a difficult 2018 spring.  Coach John Pinto has plenty to look forward to with a wealth of returning starters, many of which are pitchers.  PBR Nevada continues its look across the state as opening day approaches.

2019 Outlook:  Although there is plenty of reason to be optimistic about the upcoming season for the North Valleys Panthers, it is difficult to assess exactly what the future will hold.  After a difficult 2018 season, finishing 5-21, competing at the 4A classification, they have dropped down to the 3A level for 2019.  Coach Pinto’s Panthers return seven starters and all seven can “toe the rubber”. Shortstop and pitcher Clay Parry will play an important and the Panthers will rely on his athleticism and competitiveness to help lead them.  Outfielder and pitcher, Daniel Sieverin led the 4A Northern Region in strikeouts last season on the mound and the Panthers hope to see a similar if not better performance this season with the move. Reliable infielder Bradley Cappini will look to use his speed and be a catalyst for the offense while offering much needed defensive consistency.  The middle of the order could be anchored by Jace Miller, 6-foot-4 220.  Miller is a middle of the order type bat with solid power potential. The aforementioned should provide good senior leadership. Juniors, Dylan Hyde, Aman Bassi, and Kobe Grassi round out the returning starters.  This is a solid group that provides Coach Pinto and his staff a wealth of experience as well as depth on the mound.  If they can solidify themselves defensively, look for the Panthers to make a deep run into the 3A playoffs.
