Preseason Preview: East Chicago Central HS

Coach Jorge Ontiveros and East Chicago Central finished the 2012 season with a 10-17 overall record. The Cardinals have higher expectations with a 2013 team returning five starters and three pitchers. 

Returning for the Cardinals is junior D’Angelo Gonzalez. Gonzalez was a leader on the mound and at the plate in 2012. He led the pitching staff with a 2.36 ERA and 40 strikeouts. He also batted .284 and knocked in 18 runs. Another Cardinals ace, Luis Rodriquez, will anchor the rotation. Rodriquez had a 3.05 ERA and 35 strikeouts. 

Also returning for the Cardinals is senior infielder Adam Campos who was third on the team in RBI’s. Other returners expected to make an impact include Isaiah Pena (2013), Carlos Garcia (2014), and Jordan DeJesus (2015).
