Q and A with 2014 Lansing CC Commit: Christian Keller (Grand Ledge HS)

Christian Keller, 1B/RHP, Grand Ledge HS, 2014keller

PBR: Why did you choose Lansing C.C.?

Keller: I chose LCC because I have heard good things about Coach Merchant and I am very impressed with his aggressiveness in trying to make a really good team with the 2014 recruiting class.

PBR: At least one of your high school teammates also signed with Lansing. How did that affect your decision?

Keller: Brennen Cummings and Nate Langenfeld have also signed with LCC. Both players are very skilled at their positions and we get along quite well so when I heard they were signing too, it helped make my decision a lot easier.

PBR: Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?

Keller: My dad has made the biggest impact on me with my baseball career. He has helped me with pep talks before and after games and is always encouraging, even if I have a rough day on the field. He has been there helping me out since day one.

PBR: What is it like to play for a Michigan high school coaching legend like Pat O'Keefe?

Keller: Playing for a Legend like Coach O'Keefe has been a very good experience so far. Anybody that knows him, knows he can be loud at times but anybody that has played for him can agree that it has helped with becoming a stronger man on and off the field. He knows baseball and he has helped me improve my game drastically.

PBR: What are your expectations for Grand Ledge this year?

Keller: This upcoming season should be a good one. Last year our team was very young and we made it to the Regional finals. We lost a few key seniors like Corbin Clouse and Gabe Farr which will hurt us this season but all of the returning players from last year have grown and have been practicing quite a bit to improve our game and we all have our goals set high. We will have a great season just like last year but with the teams around here like East Lansing and Lansing Catholic, we will need to take it one game at a time.

PBR: Who do you play for in the summer and what is your most memorable moment?

Keller: I like the baseball program in Grand Ledge so I have decided stay in GL for the summers of my high school career. I also think that keeping the bond with my high school team mates is important to me which is also a big reason why I stay in Grand Ledge for the summer leagues.
