Roberds

Chas Roberds, MIF, Northmont

PBR: Why did you choose Tiffin?
Roberds: I chose Tiffin because they are a great academic school, and it's still kind of close to home and I liked what the coaches had to say about the program and where they wanted to head with the program.

PBR: What other schools were you considering?
Roberds: I was also considering Mount Union, Shawnee State, Bluffton, and Bellarmine.

PBR: Where did Tiffin first see you compete?
Roberds: I believe Tiffin first saw me compete in the summer, but also saw me at the PBR showcase at Sinclair CC.

PBR: What role do the coaches expect you to play during your first year on campus?
Roberds:  The coaches expect me to come in and work hard and compete hard for a starting spot.

PBR: What is your biggest strength as a player and how do you feel that will help Tiffin?
Roberds:  My biggest strength as a player would have to be that I have a good glove and am fast and I am a good contact hitter as well. I feel I can help Tiffin by getting on base and being able to come around and score. Also, have a good glove to wear I can come up with those plays that can change the game and swing the momentum our way and come thru and help us win big ball games.

PBR:  Who has had the biggest impact on you as a baseball player?
Roberds:  My dad has had the biggest impact on me on baseball. He has always been there to coach for me, being able to tell me what I need to fix and what I'm doing right. He's the reason I'm where I'm at today.

PBR: Who do you play for during the summer and what was your most exciting experience?
Roberds:  I played for the Germantown Cardinals last summer but this summer I will be playing for the Dayton Dynasty. My most exciting experience was when our first summer game of the year for the Cardinals, we turned a double play to end the inning, then the very next inning we turned a triple play to end the game.

PBR: Who is the toughest batter you have faced in Ohio?
Roberds:  The toughest pitcher I have faced is Jeff Clemmons of Madison. He had a good hard fastball in the mid 80's and had a sick breaking ball.

PBR: What are your goals both individually and for the team going into your senior season?
Roberds:  My goals this year individually is to make all area and all GWOC. But also to become a better leader and player. My goals this year for the team is to come out and make a good run this year and hopefully bring home the state title to Northmont.

PBR: What were your stats last season for Northridge?
Roberds:  My stats last year for Northridge were: .309 average, .457 obp, 6 doubles, and 1 triple
