CLEVELAND, OH – No. 20 Keystone flexed it's muscles early cruising to a 14-5 victory over Clearview at the Division III District semi-finals at Tri -C.  

The Wildcats jumped out early when junior shortstop Tyler Gullett drove a fastball into the right center gap for a two RBI triple. Keystone eventually scored six runs in the inning on five hits and two errors by Clearview. 

The Clippers responded with a run in the bottom of the first when Keystone starting pitcher junior Kendle Stiner hit the first two batters then walked two more to force in a run. 

Keystone got that run back when Gullett singled, stole second and scored on junior center fielder Marcus Gunter's RBI single.  

Clearview got a big hit in the bottom of the second when senior third baseman Ryan Vargo lined a triple to deep center field to score senior Freddy Ritenauer and sophomore Antonio Pagan, who both walked earlier in the inning.

Gullett again tripled in the fourth, but this time to the gap in left center scoring junior lead off catcher who got on first via a Clipper error.  Ritenauer again scored in the bottom of the fourth on a fielder’s choice. 

Keystone then put the game out of reach by scoring five runs on six hits in the top of the sixth.

Clearview scored a lone run in the bottom of the seventh to finish the scoring. 

Tyler Gullet had a huge day going three for four with two triples, two runs scored and four RBI.  Sophomore left fielder Denny Szalai also went three for four with three RBI and a run scored. Pierce Young, Collin Fitsgerald, Stiner and Gunter all had two hits for Keystone.

Stiner settled down to go four innings to pick up the win for the Wildcats. 

Sophomores Roger Engle and Austin Arendt paced Clearview with two hits apiece.
