Rising Sophomores

2018 RHP Connor McCullough committed to Oklahoma at the beginning of July. I wanted to take a look at 5 guys that I think may make their college commitment during their Super Sophomore season.

2018 LHP Evan Hiatt, Catholic HS
Hiatt is a 6-foot-1, 180-pound left-hander with a large frame and average build. He works from a High ¾ arm slot with a fluid repeatable delivery. He has a quick clean arm action. He locates his fastball 81-84 mph with slight arm side run. He compliments his fastball with a curveball and changeup. His curveball has 1/7 shape with late break thrown at 70-71 mph. The change up is thrown with near fastball arm speed, with velocity 72-74 mph. His repeatable mechanics, frame, and arm action makes Hiatt an intriguing prospect over the next few years.

2018 RHP Connor Noland, Greenwood HS
Noland is a 6-foot-2 180-pound, right-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. Noland anchored a Greenwood pitching staff as freshmen. He competes in the strike zone with a fastball 84-86 mph. His breaking ball has 11/5 shape and is thrown with near fastball arm speed. Mechanically he is sound with repeatable mechanics and rhythm. He pitches from an H ¾ arm slot with a quick loose arm. Noland is a good athlete with a big arm and advanced ability to throw strikes. Noland is already garnering attention from the elite of college baseball.

2018 OF Jacoby Jackson, Watson Chapel HS
Jackson is a 6-foot, 195-pound outfielder with a projectable frame and an athletic build. Jackson had a coming out party against cross town rival Watson Chapel when he hit a double and a single of 2015 RHP Daniel Sprinkle who drafted by the Cleveland Indians in the 15th round. Jackson is an advanced offensive player with fast bat speed and line drive swing that keeps the bat in the zone for a long time. Defensively he is sound with an above average arm throwing the ball in the low 80’s from the outfield. Jackson runs a 6.9 in the 60. Overall he may be the most intriguing player in a very talented class in the natural state.

2018 C Nick Fakouri, Sylvan Hills HS
Farkouri is a 6-foot-1 190-pound catcher with a large frame and a physical barrel chested build. Farkouri handled the catching responsibilities for Sylvan Hills this spring as the bears made a run to the state semi-finals. He has a short compact swing that allows him to drive the ball to all fields. He is advanced catcher for his age maintaining proper glove angles receiving with soft hands. He throws consistent pop times of 1.95-2.10.  Overall the best catcher in the class with advanced arm strength, a deep class for catchers, but Farkouri seems to be the leader of that group right now.

2018 LHP Jordan Wicks, Conway HS
Wicks is a 6-foot-1 180-pound left-hander with a large frame and an athletic build. He started the 7A State Championship game for Conway. He was effective all year showing advanced pitchability throwing his fastball in the bottom half of the strike zone an 80-83 mph. He complimented his fastball with a curveball and changeup that he threw with fastball arm speed. The curveball has 1/7 break with late break. His changeup showed late arm side run with some depth. As wicks continues to grow and mature he looks to be an advanced pitcher. He has already received one NCAA Division I offer with more to come.
