Scouting Report: Week 2 of Fall Prospect Program

Notable performances from Sunday, September 9th

Blue Team

Zachary Sterry (Lexington HS) showed a smooth left handed swing with relatively good balance for his size. Squared a few baseballs and displayed his strength at the plate.

Daniel O'Keefe (Centennial HS) displayed some power as he launched a fastball over the left field wall for an impressive HR.

Logan Bastin (Lexington HS) Had without question the play of the day as he stretched out to make a full extension catch by the first base dugout. Bastin also hit one of the hardest balls of the day as he doubled to left centerfield.

White Team

Tom Coon (Dublin Jerome) had a day in which trumped everyone. Coon hit two long home runs which showed his steady and consistent approach pays off.

Corey Gould (Marysville) had an impressive day at the plate as he reached base on a pair of hits leading White to a victory of Team Blue.

Kyle Casserly (Pickerington North) continued to display one of the best swings in the league as he laced a double of the right field wall. If Casserly continues to improve, he will all but assure himself some Division I offers this summer.

Connor Holdren (Hilliard Darby) had an impressive day at the dish as he seemed to have a quality at bat every at bat. Holdren had a pair of hits while also launching a sacrafice fly helping the White Team secure the victory.

Ryan Curtis (Westerville North) also had a pair of hits as he doubled and singled. Curtis has a solid frame and will be someone to follow throughout the fall.

Crimson Team

Jonathan Griebel (Whetstone) had an impressive day at the plate as he laced a two run RBI double while also lacing a fastball down the left field line.

Derek Helbing (Watkins Memorial) showed his presence behind the plate a he threw out four runners and controlled the running game all day.

Navy Team

Dominic Cooper (Grove City) reached on three base hits on the day. Cooper has a small frame however showed the ability to square up fastballs.

Jonathan Banks (CHCA) continues to impress. His solid day at the plate (3 hits) only tells half the story. He threw out nearly every base stealer while also showing knowledge of the game. While on third base, Banks managed to tag and score on a routine pop up in front of the mound that left home plate uncovered. Banks continues to separate himself from the rest with his knowlege of the game and baseball IQ.
