How they got here: East defeated No. 9 seed Churchville-Chili, 5-2. Penfield downed No. 5 seed Hilton, 7-5.

Trends: A Rochester City School District team hasn't won a Section V title since Jim DeBell's Jefferson High team took the Class A crown in 1980.

Penfield opened the season winning their first nine games. The Patriots have gone 6-6 since then. The Patriots won the 2012 AA title. Penfield also took the 2009, 2010 AAA titles.

No. 2 seed Webster-Schroeder (16-5) vs. No. 6 seed Fairport (14-7)

Tuesday at Monroe Community College, 4:30 p.m.

Players to Watch:

WEBSTER-SCHROEDER - Justin Graham (.400/19 R), Nick Lawlor (4-1/1.04 ERA) and Shane Marshall (.394/22 RBI/21 R/16 SB).

FAIRPORT - Jake Rugaber (.404/11 RBI/13 R), Connor Ewing (5W/1.55 ERA/32K) and Matt Buss (4W/1.97 ERA/23K).

How they got here: Webster-Schroeder defeated No. 7 Rush-Henrietta, 3-0. Fairport outlasted No. 3 seed McQuaid in eight innings, 6-3 in the semi-finals. The Red Raiders beat Gates-Chili, 8-0 in the opening round.

Previous meetings: Nick Lawlor scattered eight hits over six shutout innings; Webster-Schroeder defeated Fairport, 4-0 on April 20th. Connor Ewing retired the first 16 he faced. Fairport knocked off Webster-Schroeder, 3-2 on May 6th.

Trends: Webster last won a sectional title in 1998 when the district combined both schools (Webster-Thomas). Webster-Schroeder won the 1978 AA crown.

Fairport took the 2013 AAA championship. The Red Raiders have won four sectional titles since 2006.

A1 Semi-Final Preview

No. 1 seed Greece Arcadia (19-2) vs. No. 5 seed Canandaigua (12-9)

Tuesday at Brockport State, 4:30 p.m.

How they got here: Greece Arcadia defeated No. 9 seed Greece Athena, 6-2. Canandaigua upended No. 4 seed Pittsford-Mendon, 4-2.

Previous meeting: Neal McMullen hurled a 5-hitter, and Kevin Blum drove in a run with two hits. Greece Arcadia beat Canandaigua, 3-1 on April 25th.

Trends: Greece Arcadia has won nine straight. Canandaigua has taken four of its last six games.

No. 3 seed Pittsford-Sutherland (14-7) vs. No. 7 seed Brighton (13-9)

Tuesday at Victor, 4:30 p.m.

Players to Watch:

PITTSFORD-SUTHERLAND - Nate Richardson (.323/23 R/20 SB), Michael Ryan (.472 (25 for 53)/9 2B), Alec Vaules (.377/19 RBI/1.58 ERA) and Jack Zielinski (0.91 ERA). Vaules and Zielinski combined for 7W/9 CG/3 shutouts/91 K/86 IP/2 saves.

BRIGHTON: Tim Brown (.361 (22-61)/6 2B/5 RBI/16 R) and Isaac Nelson (.362 (21-58)/1 2B/16 RBI/16 R).

How they got here: Jack Zielinski finished 3-for-3 with a triple, double and four RBI. Pittsford-Sutherland defeated No. 6 seed Franklin, 12-0.

Jack FalterIsaac Nelson and Andrew Zibuck all collected three hits. Brighton upset No. 2 seed Brockport, 10-3. The Barons opened sectionals with a 4-2 win over No. 10 seed Spencerport.

Previous meetings: Pittsford-Sutherland swept the regular season series winning 10-0 on April 15th and 5-2 on May 4th.

Trends: Pittsford-Sutherland has played nine one-run games this season. Brighton is looking to win its third straight game.
