Seeds released for IHSBCA summer state tournament

The 2012 IHSBCA/Phil Lawler Summer State Tournament Classic announced its seedings of the eight regional sights. The tourney will begin Sunday with the Plainfield East-Westmont play-in game of the Glenbard South Regional, Sunday at 1. First-round action will begin at all eight sights on Monday July 16.

Defending Class 4A State Champion Oak Park-River Forest received a No.4 seed at the Nazareth Regional, where the host Roadrunners is the No.1 seed. Nazareth took home the third-place trophy in Class 3A this spring. Class 4A runner-up Lyons Township is the No. 2 seed in the loaded regional in La Grange Park.

Nazareth will meet the winner of the Addison Trail-Kenwood play-in game, at 1

in La Grange Park on Monday. The No. 2 Lions of Lyons Township will be at home in Western Springs and face Morton at 4 on Monday.

Defending Class 3A State champion Marian Catholic is the No. 8 seed at the Richards Regional. The Spartans open up regional play in Mount Greenwood at No. 9 seed Brother Rice on Monday at 1. The winner of that game will travel to No. 1 St. Laurence at 3:30 on Tuesday to face the winner of the St. Laurence-Argo-Evergreen Park winner, which will be played at St. Laurence Monday at 3:30.

Mount Carmel is the No. 2 seed at Richards and opens with Shepard on Monday at high noon at Haggerty Field.

Naperville Central and Hinsdale South are 1-2 at the Glenbard South Regional.

The top-ranked Redhawks will open tourney play at 1 on Monday at Bolingbrook against the winner of the Bolingbrook-Neuqua Valley contest played at 10.

The No. 2 Hornets  will meet the Benet Academy-Hinsdale Central play-in game winner, at home in Darien at 4:30 on Monday.

Grayslake North and Libertyville Regional host Libertyville  are 1-2 seeds at Libertyville. The Knights of Grayslake North will open up with the Grant-Round Lake play-in game winner, at 1 in Grayslake. The Bulldogs of Grant took home the third-place trophy in Class 4A this spring. The No. 2 Wildcats will host the winner of the Vernon Hills-Marian Central Catholic play-in game, Monday at 2.

Lockport and Joliet Catholic Academy are 1-2 at the Lockport Regional. The No. 1 Porters will host the Andrew-Joliet Central play-in winner at 7 on Monday night at Ed Flink Field in Lockport.

The No. 2 Hilltoppers of JCA open up tourney play Monday at Gillespie Field in Joliet against the Romeoville-Tinley Park play-in game winner, at 5 on Monday.

Niles West and Deerfield are 1-2 at the Palatine Regional. The Wolves of Niles West will meet the winner of the Maine East-Niles North play-in game, at Niles West on Monday.

No. 2 Deerfield will host Lane Tech at noon on Monday.

Jacobs and Schaumburg are the top-two seeds at the Lake Park Regional. The top-ranked Golden Eagles of Jacobs will meet the Hoffman Estates-Conant paly-in game winner, at 4 on Monday.

No. 2 Schaumburg will host the Hersey-Streamwood play-in game winner at 4 in Schaumburg.

Rock Island and St. Charles North are the top-dogs at St. Charles East. The top-ranked Rocks of the Western Big Six Conference have had a huge summer in 2012. The Rocks open up tourney play at Augustana College in Rock

Island at 5:30 on Monday night. The Rocks will face the winner of the play-in game between Plano and Woodstock.

The North Stars of No. 2 St. Charles North will host the West Chicago-West Aurora play-in game winner at 2 on Monday.

147 teams have their sights set on a July 26 date at Benedictine University in Lisle at 7:30.
